JohnParticipantHello,
We are still using X version 3.2.5. We have been very pleased with this version but there are some issues we want to address now, including upgrading to the latest version 4.6.1.
1. Will our website “look” the same if we upgrade from the current 3.2.5 to 4.6.1?
2. Will all our settings be migrated to the new X version from our current version?
3. Will the 421 Google Webmaster Structured Data (entry) errors be fixed in X 4.6.1?Lastly, a little bothersome issue: Will the icons on our home page four columns be centered in the circle background?
Our website URL: http://roguevalleyvideo.com/
Thanks

RadModeratorHi there,
Thanks for posting in.
1. Since there is a big version gap, then it might not look the same.
2. Yes, it will be, but some might not work due to name changes.
3. It isn’t, that optimization is part of SEO and should be applied manually by you, or automatically by SEO plugin. Since there are many types of microdata and rich snippets, we can’t just pre-include them on the theme.
4. Yes, icon should center but you can add this CSS as a temporary fix.
[class^="x-icon-"]:before, [class*=" x-icon-"]:before { speak: none; line-height: 2em; }All in all, if you’re trying to update your site then please test it first. Like cloning your site as dev site and do the updates there and fix the areas needs fixing. Then move it live replacing the old one.
Thanks!

JohnParticipantThanks for the reply Rad!
First of all than you for the CSS, that did the trick.
1. Everything looks good. It seems the fonts are different but this could be an improvement for us.
2. I can’t say I have tested exhaustively yet but all settings seem to be in order.
3. I think we resolved the hentry structured data errors but they are still appearing in the webmaster tools because when I choose to test the live data there are no errors reported. Strange.
I downloaded X version 4.6.1 and installed in in a seperate (copied) installation and all went quite well. The look is just as we want (like the previous version…for now). Impressive.
However, since this is a copy when we try to update the “Cornerstone” and “Revolution Slider” plugins the install fails saying “update package not available”. I assume this is because this test copy of the website is not registered. How can we test to see if all the new plugging will also work before installing X 4.6.1 on our live server?
Thanks

RadModeratorHi there,
You can assign your cloned site as a dev site. You can go to your license page here on Theme.co and assign your dev URL under. Then validate your purchase code to your cloned site and install the plugins.
Or you may provide the login credentials and we’ll check what causing it.
Thanks!

JohnParticipantRad,
Thanks you, I missed the option to have a Dev site. That is a thoughtful feature, well appreciated.
I now have a full X version 4.6.1 with the new Cornerstone and Revolution Slider plugins working with our old X version 3.2.5 data. I’m going to evaluate it a bit deeper to make sure everything is OK, which it looks to be, before updating the production website.
Thanks!
