Theme uses old version of Visual Composer with no option to update.

When I delete the included version of Visual Composer and add the stand alone version of Visual Composer, it returns an error.

Any ideas on how I can include the latest version of Visual Composer?

Hey There,

The Latest VC version that is bundle with latest X. If your theme is not updated yet, kindly update it first, you will get an updated Visual Composer there.

You should be able to update everything from your dashboard as well. If you face automatically installing plugins through X Addons page then you can always install it manually.

The plugins are included with your download of X. They are located in x\framework\plugins

Hope you will be able to install it from there.

Hey There,

Thanks for writing in !

Automatic update is available from X v2.5. Since you are using v2.3.0, you need to update manually. To do so please follow the steps :

1. Go to your Downloads page in your ThemeForest profile.

2. Locate the Download button next to X and click it. Upon clicking the Download button, a dropdown should appear.

3. Select Installable WordPress file only from the dropdown to begin downloading a .zip file of X itself.

4. Once you have downloaded this .zip file to your computer, uncompress it by double-clicking on it. This will reveal an unzipped version of the X theme.

5. Connect to your server via FTP and navigate to your /wp-content/themes/ directory.

6. Drag and drop the uncompressed version of X into this directory and ensure that all old files are overwritten.

After updating your theme, delete x-shotcodes plugin and install cornerstone form X Addons -> Visual Composer.

I’m still waiting on the previous site developer to provide me with ftp details. Is it safe to delete the theme through the WordPress dashboard and then re-install latest version?

Hi There,

That would be fine. But then it would be better if you have FTP details ready so in case there’s a connection error, you can easily access it via FTP.
