Hey X-theme team – we’ve got a need to update our plugins/framework, specifically essential grid but the version we’re running is 2.0.9.1 and the latest package version is 2.1.0.1 Artemis. Looks like there’s an update in the middle (2.1.0) that we’d need to obtain in order to perform the update properly.

Ideally, we’d love it if we can get our hands on the version history packages for updates to x theme going forward from Version 4.4.2 onwards. We’d like to make sure all updates happen in order so that we don’t have php killing bugs like the one essential grid is experiencing.

Unfortunately, we won’t we able to provide you with the older version of the theme and/or bundled plugins since we do encourage our users to have the latest version. However, we recommend you to please walk-through our theme and plugin update guide:

See this is kinda a big issue… the 2.1.0.1 update for essential grid literally can’t be installed without the previous version installed first (version 2.1.0).

Other areas of the framework I’m sure we can live without individual updates, as it’s entirely likely the rest will update to the latest release without problem – but specifically for essential grid, without this “middle version” we cannot update essential grid at all. Ever.

Specifically, their new social streams components http://essential.themepunch.com/facebook-stream-grid-plugin/
add new database entries for a whole suite of features that didn’t exist in the previous model.

Short story is going direct upgrade and skipping 2.1.0 kills the php.

Hi there,

I never heard similar issues regarding Essential Grid. But I could check it if you’ll allow, or you may provide your error log file. And to avoid further complications, you should clone your site as staging and do test the updates there. That’s the safest way testing the updates.

There was EG issue regarding missing tables, like from here https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/essential-grid-has-no-skin-options/

The issue we’re experiencing is with missing tables, as others have reported here:

We can create the tables by hand, or run the sql file attached to that thread after modifying it to account for the blog id on WP Multisite, but that’s only a temporary fix. We have going on 4-500 sites and we have to create these tables for newly provisioned sites as well.

It’s not a matter of database corruption, the plugin just isn’t creating the tables it requires. My assumption is that it created the tables a few minor versions back and has since removed the update code that created them for some reason?

Thank you for the update and sharing the logs. We’re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. This is a confirm bug on Essential Grid. We have already forwarded to our developers for investigation and they were already looking at it. Unfortunately, the fixed available was to import the tables for now. We will let you know once we have an update. Thank you for understanding.
