Hi there,

I am currently replacing the “Featured Image” in some portfolio items as part of the translation process from English to Spanish. So the Spanish items are currently using the Featured Images in English, but when I try to either remove them or replace them, the images remain the same. Also, I just noticed that the video link isn’t changing either.

Can you help?

It seems none of the image or video is changing. So what you are using to translate is not working properly.

Yes, WPML is compatible with X. It looks like you haven’t setup your pages properly. Please contact WPML support for this.

Also, I found a thread for someone who experience a similar problem and the issue was related to the theme, not the plugin:

I was able to change the featured image, but the video link remains the same. There is no clear reason why it doesn’t change.

Sorry for the confusion but I didn’t say there’s a problem with the plugin. As previously said, it looks like your setup is incorrect.

I checked your Spanish portfolio and it wasn’t setup to be independent of the English version. I disconnected it to the English version, changed the video and reconnected it again. See http://www.tubularchainconveyors.com/portfolio-item/video-discharge-valves/?lang=es

Hi there,

I was able to change the video in that particular portfolio item, but the others still have the same issue. I noticed that the English page doesn’t link to the Spanish translation (See image: error3.jpg), but the Spanish page does. Not sure how to restore the link to that page.

So, trying to guess what you did, I used the Translation section to disconnect the Spanish and English pages, but I was unable to change the video link for the Spanish page. When I did it, it also changed the English page link.

Could you walk me through the process of connecting and disconnecting the portfolio pages so that I can change the remaining videos myself? How can I reconnect the English page to the Spanish translation?

To disconnect, set This is a translation of to none. After that, change the video and then connect it again to the English post. The post needs to be separated when changing things outside of WPML. For more details on this, please contact WPML support.

This isn’t working properly for me. I’ll create the pages in a different way and avoid using the portfolio template.
