    Hi there,

I have a client who wants me to move a page I’ve created on one site, to a new site. The site that I’m copying from is made using X Theme and I have customized it with a child theme. The new site will also be created using X theme but I haven’t set it up yet.

What’s the easiest way to transfer over all of the information stored in the Child Theme I’ve customized to the new site and then to transfer over the specific page they want moved?

Can I easily transfer over the library contents as well and keep all of the internal links to graphics etc. intact?

The page that is to be copied is at: http://livinginquirymaui.com/services/ripples-of-continuum/

Any help on this is much appreciated!

    Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! You can copy one page you have built in Cornerstone by saving the page as a template. You may edit the page in Cornerstone and go to Layouts > Templates (http://prntscr.com/bzc1f1). You can download the CSL file and import it in the other website. Just do not forget to manually copy the custom css and custom js you have added on that page if there are any.

    Hope this make sense.

Ok thanks, that sounds straightforward. In addition to copying the css/js over I’m assuming that I’d also need to copy over the Child Theme with all of my customization as well. How would I do that?

Oh also, if I save that page as a template, won’t I also need to copy over all of the graphics and extras that are linked in the site’s Library or is that somehow included in the CSL?

    Hi there,

All the customization in the files made in the child theme should be in the child theme directory.

Once you have downloaded the CSL file you will have to update the links in the file to have to correct domain or directory path and migrate the images as well.

Hmm, when I ftped into the old site and tried to grab the Child Theme from the directory, downloaded it, zipped it and then reuploaded into the new site, it just installed a blank child theme on the new site without my customizations. I just ended up re-inputting the settings manually so I’m up and running but any idea why this might be happening?

Also, when I tried to download the CSL of the whole page as a template, it just opened a new tab with all of the code on the page, rather than downloading an actual CSL file. Any idea why that might be? I’m working in Safari so maybe it’s a browser issue.

I copied and pasted all of the code out of the new tabbed page, saved it in notepad and just set the file extension to CSL and it uploaded fine into the new page on the new site. So again, problem solved for now. But I still am wondering about the above questions in case I run into this problem again.

Thanks very much for all your help!

Looks like you haven’t exported your Customizer settings. See https://community.theme.co/kb/customizer-manager/ for more details.

The CSL download issue might be caused by a browser extension or a plugin or script in your site. Please try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

    Thanks.
