I’ve searched through the forums, but I can’t seem to find a post specific to what I need. I’ve built a custom X page (just a Revolution Slider on the Blank|No Header, No Footer template) that I need to be used as a temporary (couple weeks) splash page. Is there a way to do this in X? I don’t really want to change the index page. Figured I’d ask to see what your thoughts are.

X has a built in extension for that which is the – Under Construction plugin with some built in settings but might be limited to what you require.

I looked at the Under Construction plugin, but that didn’t seem to do what I wanted. We aren’t trying to take the whole site offline for maintenance. We’re basically just trying to create a temporary advertising page that shows up right before our homepage. It has an option on it to proceed to the homepage if the user would like. We need to keep the entire site up and running. Sorry…I wasn’t very clear in my original post. 🙂

In that case you an just create and design a page and assign as home page. When you are ready to make it live, you can re-assign the original home page as front page from Settings > Reading.
You can set the page template “Blank Container | No header, No Footer” to get rid of the usual header and footer from this page.

Great…I was hoping it was that easy. Does changing the homepage in the WordPress settings mess up SEO?

It depends how long you are going to keep this. You can check “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” for the “Search Engine Visibility” under Settings > Reading – http://prntscr.com/d1jnsa
When you are done and set the original page as home page, you can uncheck this and submit XML Sitemap.
