Kyle – I have been very busy lately but am also very interested in participating in this as I think it’s a fantastic idea. My question however is, what about the associated CSS that goes along with the template? A lot of the magic lies here. Shouldn’t there also be an “UPLOAD CSS FILE” button as well as a Cornerstone file button?

Hi Steve – Looking forward to having your contributions!

I included this paragraph at the bottom of the intro post on the thread, We would prefer no custom CSS, JavaScript, or Responsive Text on the Settings page at this time. If you need to make styling updates, you are certainly welcome do this via the advanced inputs for each element (i.e. inline styles) to create some very cool and tailored templates.

While this is our preference, if you have any specific ideas for templates that go beyond inline styles, feel free to contact us directly, and I can put you in touch with the person on the team to discuss.

My pleasure, Steve! And that’s great advice, Craig…everyone has a beginning 🙂 We’re excited to put even more of focus on the community here in the coming months as we redesign the site so we can all help each other learn more.

One of my favorite things to do for design inspiration is to pick up a popular magazine (specifically a tech/web oriented magazine if possible) and look through the various ads and layouts. You will get so many great ideas that are sure to get the creative juices flowing!

This is brilliant. Also I have to say designing in Cornerstone is a breeze, yes there are some shortcomings/trade-offs but they are few and far between. This will keep me an X customer for a long time 🙂

Great idea to let people share there Cornerstone Templates! As the community works together to make the greatest template, we all can befit from that. I will try to make some template myself as well.

Is there a time frame when all the community Cornerstone Templates will be shared / released?

Hi MaartenL,

Yes, we’re very excited about this. No ETA at present as we have about 10 more elements we want to get into Cornerstone before we really start putting some effort behind this. We have about a dozen that have been submitted by the community thus far, and we are working internally on producing more. The 10ish elements that we want to get in will really bring a whole new layer of power to Cornerstone and will allow for some incredible templates. There are a couple new Elements coming out this week that are part of that group. Realistically, I’d say we’re still a couple months from having the community portion of this live as we are also in the process of a complete redesign of the member area and will launch the template section after that is complete as it is integrated into the new design.

We still invite customers to share their templates in line with the considerations in the original post on this thread.

It’s OK to put submitted templates out BEFORE you finish everything. I think we will be able to decide if they are helpful or not and everything other people do adds to the usability of the theme (and helps people learn).

Not as easy as just releasing them 🙂 There is a lot going on with Cornerstone behind the scenes so the community portion of this will be secondary to that (other things have to be sorted out first). I will be sure to let everyone know when there is news to share on this front, but it will not be in the near future.
