blue light studioParticipantHi,
I have been working on a website for a while now, and I am happy with how it’s looking, but I am having trouble with the load time on mobile, specifically with the main menu.
I will give my info in a private message.
What happens is there are 3 drop down menu’s and they take a seriously long time to load. They are so slow it feels like they aren’t working, except if you have the patience (enough no one going to the site to check out would have) they do in fact work. And on a desktop they would perfectly and load fine.
The none drop down work as they should.
Could you peak around and help me figure out why? I have a web developer who has been working with me on the site and she asked me to ask you guys because she said she can’t figure it out and it’s something happening in the theme.
Thanks in advance.

RadModeratorHi there,
Thanks for writing in.
It’s due to google loading its API and resources, which is related to reviews and google maps. It loads okay on my mobile, but those resources keeps loading.
Thanks!

blue light studioParticipanthmmm, that is interesting because the google reviews and map loads really fast, but that is not the problem I am having.
They may be refreshing but I don’t think that is a feature in the reviews because it wont update new reviews unless I go into the plugin and manually refresh it which would indicate to me that it’s not refreshing.
The problem I am having is with the menu. On your mobile, try clicking on “BLS Artists, services, or about us”. You will see that they take an extremely long time to respond, where “reviews, gear, and contact” work almost instantly and as soon as you push them they respond.
The strange thing is that this only seems to be a problem on the main page, not the subpages. The subpage menu (which is the same menu as the main page) operates exactly as it should and it is super fast.
On the main page, if you try and expand any of the 3 drop down menu’s you have to wait a super long time, 10-20 seconds at least if it expands at all.. This shouldn’t be a hard task API or not API. Especially since the subpages (you could look at http://www.bluelightstudio.ca/services on your mobile to see what I mean) operate as they should.
Could you please help and dig a little deeper, there must be something on the main page that is causing this and I don’t think it’s the google review because it isn’t refreshing.
Also I tried one more test to make sure it’s not the google review messing it up…I added the google review plugin to the services page, and the menu still operates totally fine so there is no way it’s that.
Thanks in advance.

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Thanks for updating in! It sounds like you might be having an issue with a third party plugin or script. Regretfully, we cannot provide support for third party plugins or scripts as our support policy in the sidebar states due to the fact that there is simply no way to account for all of the potential variables at play when using another developer’s plugin or script. Because of this, any questions you have regarding setup, integration, or troubleshooting any piece of functionality that is not native to X will need to be directed to the original developer.
Thank you for your understanding.

blue light studioParticipantHi,
I understand what you are saying, but unfortunately I have tried deactivating all plugins that didn’t come installed with your theme, and I also tried removing all the added css code on the page that is causing the problems. Both yielded the same result. The menu does not operate correctly on mobile devices.
It does however operate fine on all other subpages on the site, that aren’t the home page. Since it’s not the css code we’ve added, and it’s not any plugins as you’ve suggested, the only logical explanation is something in the theme.
I understand that you don’t want to look into this, but I’m getting pretty annoyed that this is a happening. I’m not doing anything crazy on the site other than pretty simple stuff that should easily work with your theme. Please actually look into this rather than passing it off as someone else’s problem. There has to be a reason the menu works on subpages and not on the home page.
Thank you.

JoaoModeratorHi There,
Please turn off all third party plugins in order that we can investigate.
Let us know when it is ready.
Thanks

blue light studioParticipantOk, I have turned off all plugins that didn’t come with the x theme.
Is that what you wanted? Also I gave my login info, if you want to play around turning them off and on that is fine.
Thanks!

ChristianModeratorHey there,
The menu slow down is due to the sheer number of scripts (Google Maps, SoundCloud, Youtube, etc..) loaded in your home page. I’ve created a test page in your site http://bluelightstudio.ca/x-support-test/ and checked it on my phone and the menu works fast.
Cut or minimize your home page’s content. This is not an issue with X or rather a theme or plugin in general.
Thanks.
