I created a slider several months ago, which looked as it should until recently (possibly today) when a couple of errors appeared:

1: When clicking the links for the different slides it sometimes just starts showing the slides on top of each other (they have a transparent background) in stead of changing between them, which is a complete mess.

2: Text, which before was centered (and still is when in edit mode) now is not. I centered it under advanced CSS for the single layer.

3: The buttons no longer show the correct padding, and therefore look awful.

As said before, the slider used to look fine, but I don’t know what caused it to act out. I hope you can help.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi there,

Before we continue, please update your theme as this may fix your issue.
You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.

If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.

    Thanks.

This appears to have made things worse… Now the menu disappears altogether when clicking some links, while all of the above problems remain.

Do you have a backup copy of your site where your slider is working? If so, please restore it and then copy your site over to a staging or development server and give us access there so we could test settings out. Or if you can, try rebuilding your slider. There might have been breaking changes in the recent version of Slider Revolution.

    Thanks.

I do not have a recent backup, but this is a development environment and therefore not “live” per say. So as long as you don’t break the site, temporary changes is no problem 🙂 I will make sure to make a backup right now.

I can of course build the slider again, but there are many hours of work in this one slider, which also appears in a variation elsewhere on the site. This is by far not the first time I have had problems with RS and I am tempted to give up on the plugin, but the functionality is very hard to achieve without it 🙁

Would you mind moving your menu as static or global layers? This is to eliminate complexity in each slide and for proper setup. See the links below for instruction and sample

    Hi again,

I have now spend quite a lot of time struggling with this static layer menu.

With the menu on each layer, I could change background color and text of the menu point on the chosen layer, but I cannot figure out how to do that with a static layer.
Secondly the static layer’s opacity seems to a have mind of its own. It changes from solid to semi-transparent when jumping to a new slide.
Thirdly, I made a clickable layer on top of each menu point, but the cursor does not change to make this apparent.
Finally all of the old problems remain, and the slider is still one chaotic mess 🙁

I have saved this as a new slider called “G2-static layer menu”.

I hope you have an idea of how to fix this. Thanks for your time 🙂

    Hey Sandra,

The only solution would be to add a background to each of your slides as I’ve tested here http://optumce.krabbenhoft.eu/test/

    Thanks.

That seems to be a very weird solution, and hard to work in with a full width background image without also stretching the slider. Is it really not possible to have a working slider without a background? It also doesn’t fix any of the other problems.

As I said before, the slider worked fine up until a few weeks ago. Luckily this site isn’t live, but if RS is really this unreliable I’m not sure I can risk it. It sucks to have to buy a plugin for something that is in theory included though…

I know you guys are working hard dealing with all our problems, and I appreciate it 🙂

    Hi Sandra,

    Thanks for writing back.

I’ve looked into the issue and these appear to be bugs within Revolution Slider, the transition issue with the static layers was fixed in their last release.

We’ll be releasing the latest version of Revolution Slider later on today via our automatic updates system.

I’ll post back once that is updated and let you know, as based on their release notes I believe that should fix all your outstanding issues.

    Thank you!

    Hi Sandra,

I’ve just released that update on our automatic updates system. Can you try upgrading Revolution Slider now and see if any of the issues still exist.

    Thanks!

Awesome! This fixed the main problem, which was the weird overlay 🙂

I am still having a few problems:

    1. I still can’t get text to center. I tried adding the css both through advanced css and layer, and as inline css directly in the text. In edit mode it appears centered, but not when viewing the actual slider.

    2. The static menu goes from solid, to transparent to sometimes completely disappearing when clicking on it, and I can’t figure out why this is happening.

    3. The buttons look fine in the editor, but change the padding when viewing the slider.

    4. Is there a way to make the cursor change when to the “click hand” to make it apparent, that the menu can be clicked?

Thanks so much for all your help so far! 🙂

    Hi Sandra,

#1 To center a text in a layer, select the layer first then go to the layer Advanced Style settings > Spaces > Text Align then set it to center.

#2 I tried checking the main navigation but I can’t seem to replicate the issue you have described. Would you mind clarifying?

#3 Try to set the width of the button layer in the Advanced style settings to auto.

#4 Select the layer then go to Advanced style</strong> settings > Hover > Mouse Cursor.

    Hope these help.

#1 and #4 worked great 🙂 Thanks! #3 I realized that the padding could now be set under spaces, so after changing it here, it looked fine. The auto width made the text split into two lines, but all is good here now as well 🙂

#2 When clicking the navigation (the one within the slider) it very often either disappears or turns semi-transparent (see attachment). This is something that comes and goes when I refresh the browser or change something random in the slider…
