Scott TParticipantWhy would my site feed https://sdrostra.com/feed/ show up in code instead of formatted and how do I resolve this?

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Thanks for writing in! I can view your feed. Yes, you are correct. The feed will always display the xml format. This is what the feedreaders will be needing. To know more about the WordPress Feeds, please check out the codex: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Feeds
Hope this helps.

Scott TParticipantRue, you are completely incorrect! Go to any website built with WordPress and go to the mydomain.com/feed/ and you will be presented with a simple styled page of the feed, NOT AN XML!
I am far from an expert but more than a noob to know you are incorrect and this is not a solution.
Just go to https://sfmsa.com/feed which is built with X to see what I mean.

RadModeratorHi Scott,
XML is just a plain code or text, but each browser has its own way of displaying it. Example, in firefox, it will be styled like a normal feed reader, but in chrome, it will be displayed as plain text. And that something you can’t control, mobile has their own way of displaying it.
Let’s say feed XML is a data, and browser or any device has their own way of displaying those data. XML or feed aren’t just used in the browser, it can be used on mobile native apps, desktop apps, game apps, and more. It should be served as plain data with no styling.
Feed readers are what style them, and firefox has it’s built-in. If you like to style it, then what you need is a feed reader like Feedburner and fetch your site’s feed. Then redirect your feed to Feedburner.

Thanks!

Scott TParticipantWell I’ll be damned! I guess all these years I’ve never opened a feed link in Chrome until just now on this site. Okay.
