Debora GParticipantHi there,
I thought X introduced, a while ago, a feature where you can design and build on a secluded spot on your site, not visible to the audience.
But I can’t seem to find it.
Hope you can help me with that.
Thanks,
Debora

RupokMemberHi Debora,
It seems you are referring the development site. You can add a development site to each of your license. Or are you referring the Themeco hosting? We give you a preview URL with our hosting that could be used as development domain.
Let us know what you are actually referring.
Thanks!

Debora GParticipantI guess I mean a development site. I don’t have my site hosted with Themeco.
Thanks,
Debora

NicoModeratorHi There,
You could try using the underconstruction mode. It will show a coming soon page in your site while you can change or update your site.

Hope it helps.
Thanks.

Debora GParticipantHi,
I only need development space for a few new pages. The site must remain active.
The problem always is, that Google will index these development pages even when I block the access per page.
So I guess, the only way is the known WordPress development site in a subdirectory?Hope to hear from for you for a more simple solution included with X. If not now then it’s my wish for the future.
Thanks,
Debora

John EzraMemberHi there,
Thanks for updating the thread! What we released was the ability to have a second instance of your site on a development domain. You can have one live production domain and one development domain. You can set those within your license settings here on your Theme.co account.
What you can do is use a plugin like duplicator to back up and copy your site, then you can redeploy the copy to a dev domain or subdomain. Then you can use that for your development purposes.
Google may still index those if your dev site is also online, depending on your settings. X doesn’t currently have a feature that controls indexing of pages as this is more a function that should have to do with WordPress itself and not the theme on top. You may be able to find a plugin or script that may achieve what you want or engage a developer for a custom solution.
You can check out our recommended partners: https://theme.co/x/member/custom-development/
We can also suggest this as a feature request to our main dev team. However, I can’t make any promises of implementation especially anytime soon.
It may be faster checking other options. Thank you for understanding.
