DanielParticipantHey there,
Within Cornerstone, I always develop duplicate sections – one for desktop and one for mobile. So I hide the desktop section on mobile and hide the mobile section on desktop. It gives me the ability to design what I want for each.
Now, I’m starting to optimize my sites for SEO and just realized something. If those duplicate sections are being used, are search engines reading the duplicate content and penalizing for this? Would it be better to design the site in such a way that no duplicate sections are used?
Or, does google only read one of the sections and I’m okay to continue doing what I’m doing?
Thank you,
Daniel

RadModeratorHi Daniel,
Thanks for writing in.
It should have no problem with SEO. You’re not cloaking your content to deceive viewers.
Thanks!

DanielParticipantIs there maybe some research or anything to back this up? I feel as though if we are using keyword heavy content, Google may think we are trying to overdue it by doubling up on the keywords. And we are getting ready to build an entire local business on this using the X Theme for numerous clients. We’ll have to use another theme if Google in fact would penalize us.
And with that, my other question is: If I hide an entire section on all devices, would google’s robots still read this as live content? Say I wanted to have a large amount of content on the homepage for SEO purposes but wanted to hide it for design aesthetics. Would that work or not?
