olmecaParticipantHey,
First of all thanks for the great theme. I have been using it to create our gaming community’s website, I made it with 0 knowledge on anything, and just googling, and the website is getting more decent every day. This is not a question about X itself but a Rev. Slider question. As it is an included plugin I thought maybe you could help me.
Here is my website:
So you see the video in the homepage. It is a very basic just to show the video. I want to convert it to a post based slider featuring titles and excerpts 5-6 of our news posts, being able to slide between these post based items, but keeping the background video static.
That should be easily possible with the plugin but I am just illiterate on it so can someone help me?

olmecaParticipantSo I tried my best given the tutorial video but my slider keeps pulling only one news item even though I have set sort by date and maximum posts to 5. Here is where I test it:

olmecaParticipantOK, here is the interesting part.
If a tag or category has 2 posts it does slide between them. If it has more than 2 posts (even changing the post count of the existing category back and forth) it stops sliding.
Oh also it resets the video. This is not good at all.

LelyModeratorHi There,
Would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look on your post based slider settings? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / passwordDon’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.

olmecaParticipantAt this stage I have 2 problems.
1) There is an independent problem, in whatever post based slider I am using, the slider either doesn’t slide or slides with 2 posts if I pick only categories with 2 posts. It never fetches as it promises, such as fetching first 5 posts from a category with 13 posts by date.
2) Initial thing I wanted to do seems impossible with Slider Revolution. I thought it would be easy. Just have the video on the homepage as it is, and add some post based titles/excerpts and arrows to slide between them on it.
If I add the video as a background to a certain slide (as I have been doing for my homepage) it will reset after each sliding. I wanted to keep it static.
If I add the video as a global layer it will not be transparent and be in the front of rest of the content, and also I will
need to select “transparent” for the individual slides’ background and not “featured image” as all tutorials point out, because I don’t actually want to use the featured images of my posts, I want to use just the title and the excerpt.I have been with this slider here: http://www.bombersbareve.com/slidetest/ Please don’t change the homepage one. So what exactly is missing for me from this test slider is:
1) Can’t fetch 5 of my latest news items if I set it up like that.
2) Video resets each slide.November 1, 2016 at 6:47 am #1239017
ChristianModeratorHey there,
1. This is strange as this does not happen on my test site. Would you mind testing for a plugin conflict?
2. Looks like this is not possible with Slider Revolution. In this case, you should use X’s Slider Below Masthead feature (see https://community.theme.co/kb/sliders/). I’ve tested it here http://www.bombersbareve.com/slidetest/
Thanks.

olmecaParticipantThe feature works well and combined with a Rev Slider can solve my problems.
The post based slider issue seems not to be a plugin issue. I deactivated all the plugins and the slider was still the same. You can try it too, but please reactivate them under 10 minutes.

LelyModeratorHi There,
This is a very weird behavior. I did a lot of combination on your home-2 post slider to check the issue. I even download it and it works fine on my test site. I have notice that it only display one slide if Sort direction is Descending. When I tried Ascending, it is working fine. See this:http://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cDXnfJj7hb.
I left it in Ascending and News category for you to see. I will forward this to our developer for investigation.November 1, 2016 at 11:57 pm #1240266
olmecaParticipantOh allright. I can use it in ascending mode for a while, until you do your research on the descending order.
November 2, 2016 at 12:25 am #1240288
olmecaParticipant1) I realized it won’t fetch some particular posts even in ascending order, and it is always the same posts, no matter what category I fetch by. They are my latest 3 posts:
http://www.bombersbareve.com/valar-moregoonis-even-goon-whales-must-die/
http://www.bombersbareve.com/watch-this-another-super-pilot-shits-in-his-pants/
http://www.bombersbareve.com/watch-this-the-bar-punishes-smartbombing-carriers-in-provi/They are all video posts but I had other video posts working fine. Now I will test on what is the problem with these posts.
EDIT: Nevermind. Different criteria of sorting (author, date, unsorted) will yield very interesting and inconsistent amount of posts to be shown. Above posts will still appear in at least some of them. So I’m not sure it is an issue emerging from specific posts anymore.
But note that it is NOT working fine on ascending either. Just shows more posts (up to 10/13) with some sorting criteria. Shows less (1/13 or 2/13) with others.
2) I thought maybe those posts themselves corrupted the ascending descending issue. But if I have a category which completely exclude these posts, and sort them by descending, the problem of “fetching only one item” still persists. So this might be a different problem.
November 2, 2016 at 1:46 am #1240335
olmecaParticipantVery awkward indeed.
If I fetch Featured articles and sort by Author, Descending it will show 5/6 featured articles. It will not fetch a particular article. Let’s say it doesn’t show article X.
If I remove the featured tag from article Y it will show 5/5 articles, this time fetching article X instead.
I checked whether the Date sorting bug depends on there being multiple posts at the same date but it’s not.
I tried adding the featured tag to different posts to figure out which one it fetches and it seems static for each query but I don’t know what decides which posts are left out.

LelyModeratorHi There,
Regarding 10/13 results please try adjusting 10 on Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most.
On other issues, I have added that information for discussion with the developer. We will let you know once we have an update.November 2, 2016 at 9:07 am #1240750
olmecaParticipantI changed the setting to 20. Still fetching 10/13. Problem persists.

JoaoModeratorGlad to hear you managed to find a solution.
Best Regards,
Joao
