Revolution Slider is updated often, sometimes with security fixes — so what is the recommended way to best keep it updated? I understand that auto-updates are only available if you bought separate RevSlider license, but so for an X Theme user, how do we do this? Must re-download the whole X theme everytime and drop in the new RevSlider via FTP everytime?

Also, if I WERE to purchase a separate RevSlider license, is it slightly different code? … I read somewhere on forums that the RevSlider bundled with X Theme is modified slightly for use with X. Is this true? In which case it’s not advised to buy RevSlider separately?

Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! We do not modify any bundled plugin just like Slider Revolution. Whether you purchase a separate license or not, the code is still the same. The only difference is that we will be the one who will provide the updates through automatic updates and it will just be available if you have validated X. Ah, okay I see now in RevSlider top level page (within WordPress admin, that is) there is a blue “Update” button on the right … the “Plugin Activation” section to the left of this block seems to imply that “Live Updates” are only available through RevSlider activation. Thus my confusion. So yeah, you answered my question 🙂
