I have several very short video clips that I put into slides. They are produced to a certain size 1040px x 350px. I’ve set up the clips as html5 video backgrounds in revolution slider, the viewport is set up with the exact proportions as the video. Have spent a lot of time reading on the revolution slider support site. The instructions are clear, and I’ve set this up accordingly.

    • I want the video contained, showing exactly as produced, but am not able to achieve that. The cover images are what it should look like, but the video zooms about 40% when it plays. I can’t find what this is.
    • My video slider only works when I use the videos as background.
    • Have not been able to create video layers instead.
    • Also, once I’ve put a video cover image in place (which is required), I can’t remove it after.

Am starting to think there may be a conflict with X? Am truly stumped. Can you help at all? http://hrjwp.temp.lexi.net/

Please set your layer grid size the same as your video (see attachment)

    Thanks.

Setting the Layer Grid size is the first thing I did. And this worked in other sliders I created with Revo and X.
This time the functionality is somehow restrained, limited. Please re-read what I wrote. You have a login to check into this further.

If in any way I have not been clear with my problem description, please let me know.

    Hello There,

    Thanks for updating in!

Before proceeding to what you have in mind, please review the difference and the limits between the video as a background and video as a slide layer. You can check it out here: https://www.themepunch.com/faq/video-not-showing-up-on-mobile/

Believe me I have spent hours on the themepunch site. You are invited to log into the site and look for yourself.
Unfortunately I can’t do my own testing if there is an incompatibility with X-theme, as I don’t have a standalone Revo Slider plugin to test with another theme. I suspect that it may work fine with another theme.

    To repeat:

    1) I cannot add a video layer.
    2) I can’t contain the video as produced and grid defined (1040px x 350px).
    3) I have tested this in my sandbox site and could not make it work.

I don’t know where else to ask and this client won’t accept second best work. Please dig a bit deeper. Thanks.

    Hi there,

This is not incompatibility with X theme, but the limitation of slider option itself. You’re adding your video as background where the aspect ratios are only 16:9 and 4:3 (please check the attached screenshot).

If you’ll check your video size here http://andrew.hedges.name/experiments/aspect_ratio/, the aspect ratio is 103:35 which isn’t on the list.

Hence, the solution for this issue is to make your video as the layer instead of background, then under its setting, make it full screen (attached screenshot).

Grid size should stay the same as the video size (1040×350)

The other way is to convert your video to 1040×585 (it’s the 16:9 equivalent).

    Thanks!

I think we are getting somewhere now. Yes, I finally figured out that the aspect ratios are fixed, two options only.

I tried yet again to add a video layer (tried many times) and finally was able to, with your full screen setup, except the video doesn’t play and the button that should say “Add This Video” says “Add This Audio“!! Maybe the problem is the source video encoding? RS sees the file as an audio?

This is so weird. I’ll do some more trouble-shooting with different files. If I find the cause, I’ll let you know. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

    Hi there,

I added a video on X slides that I added and I’m not getting that issue. What video you’re adding?

    Thanks!

Sorry for the delay, had to get on with things. Am attaching a screen print of what I see in my Sandbox site and the site in question, that I’ve written about here. I can not add a video layer with RS. Period. The video does not play and I get a button that says “Save This Audio”. Tried several different files.

So I won’t repeat everything again. I’ve been able to create the video for this site, but it was very difficult with the limitations that presented themselves in Revolution Slider. http://hrjwp.temp.lexi.net/

    Hello There,

    Thanks for updating in!

To properly add a video in Revolution Slider, please check out the documentation here:
    https://www.themepunch.com/revslider-doc/video-layers/
    https://www.themepunch.com/revslider-doc/main-background/?tab=html5video

    Hope this helps.

Thank you, I read all the instructions before I posted here. Nothing explains though why I get an “Add This Audio” button in the Video Layer dialog. Best for 2017.

    Hi there,

Yes, I can see it now. That’s weird, though, the functionality of the button didn’t change, it still inserting the video.

I’ll note this for further checking.

    Thanks!

Rad, just to repeat myself; with this weirdness at my end, I could not, NOT, add a video layer that played a mp4 video. A layer could be added with the ‘Add This Audio’ button, but it was empty, could not be configured and didn’t function. You need to know when you do your further checking. Thanks.
