    See stayinnewport.com.

I’m trying to implement the large main image in a way that it responds and shrinks down on smaller devices. As it is implemented now, as a simple background image, it crops rather than shrinks on mobile phones. Can you help?

    Hi There,

Thanks for writing in! If you need to emphasize the image, then we advice that you added it as a Content (Image Element) not a background. Please read this post on how background image works.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

I’ve gotten many great responses from Themeco support, however, this was not one of them. I expect better after buying 6 licenses, guys.

I know how background images work. What I asked is how to replicate what you currently see at stayinnewport.com (a large image with overlay text dead center) but with an image that shrinks down and responds. Can you tell me how to achieve this with X? Thank you.

    Hi Greg,

Sorry you had this impression I am sure Friech tried to help,

I am not sure what you mean whit shrinks and responds, the background image on the reference website stayinnewport.com responds just like a background picture on X.

I believe the best way you could achieve that is by using Revolution Slider, it responds pretty much like you are asking for.

    Hope that helps

    Hi Greg,

To replicate the section on the https://stayinnewport.com/ website.

    Please follow these step:

    1. Set the background image for your section, set the padding + margin to 0px.
    2. Set the padding for the column inside your section to top: 500px bottom: 500px left: 0 right: 0.
    3. Add the text element with the following content, set the text align to center:

    <h1><span style="color: #ffffff;">Welcome to The Barn</span></h1><h3><span class="subheader" style="color: #ffffff;">Newly Renovated, Less Than 1 Mile from the Beach</span></h3>

    Hope it helps 🙂

    Thai,

I am so confused….what the heck happened to X’s support?

I thought for sure this question had to have been asked before because it’s a common request. I can do this in the Salient theme in about 15 seconds but no clue how to achieve in X.

What you just told me is exactly how I produced the end result. Had you read my support request, you’d know this is not what I wanted, and that in fact I want the same LOOK but an image that properly shrinks on smaller device, rather than being cut off.

Can I please get some proper support? Thank you.

    Hi There,

First of all I would like to state that we are indeed trying to help you, maybe there is a misscomunication, but when I looked your website it seems like the image was being cut and you wanted exactly the opposite.

If you add a background image it will be cut, it cannot adapt perfectly due the proportions of the devices, in order that we can help you:

1- Provide the URL of the page where you are trying to apply that

2- Provide an example of how you would like it.

    Thanks

    Joao,

Since my original post answers both 1 & 2, it doesn’t seem you are trying to help. If I ask a question, and then you keep answering questions I didn’t ask, and end it with asking me to ask the same question over again when you can just scroll up and see my question….what are we doing here? Why are you wasting my time and yours? If you don’t know the answer, and nobody else in Themeco support knows the answer, just say so. My question was cut and dry.

This is horribly disappointing….the worst support I’ve ever received from Themeco. Support was far better when I had only 1 license. Maybe you’re growing too fast?

I’ve accomplished what I needed using Revolution Slider. I did not want to use Rev Slider as it adds more bloat to the site but seeing as X does not support responsive images w/overlay text, I had no choice.
