Hi !

So my website is pretty much finished and I’m quite happy with X. I still have a couple question regarding bugs :

– the first one is regarding the research which always return a 404 error… I thought it was working at first, but I never tried and tested it extensively… am I missing something ?

– The second is regarding essential grid. If I go in “edit skin” and if I wanna add a second button pointing toward a youtube video I thought I might try to use metadata (since it’s one link per tile and I needed hence an article related element) however under the “Link/SEO” tab, if I choose “link to” -> “meta”, I can’t access the dropdown for “meta key”. It show the loading icon forever…

So regarding the research url, I don’t have any. The link is in the menu as a magnifying glass. you can find it on the front page for instance :

now to be honest I don’t remember how I added this feature, weather or not it was part of the theme… I believe I checked some option in the menu settings back in the days but I couldn’t say for sure… Also I’m pretty sure it was working art first…

Now regarding Essential Gid, it might be me not using it correctly… I’m not sure I have fully understood those meta things…( except for the regular metadata (SEO standards… ))… So I was wondering if I had a bug there :
this keep “loading” for ever when I hit the dropdown button.
Yet, what I’d like to do, is to have a one unique external link for each grid element. (If you know a way to do that ? )

Hi there,

1. It’s not from X, you have custom URL/page for search result ( eg. http://www.xm-studio.com/en/front-page/ and http://www.xm-studio.com/fr/xm-studio/ ). Different URL per language and X has no feature like that. I checked this and they are just standard pages while search result is an archive page.

Would you mind providing your FTP login credentials as well? I like to check your templates.

2. Under your Essential Grid’s source section, there is two type, then are the custom and the post types. If you choose custom, it will give you the option to add video, image, and more, and when you add that. While you adding them, there is the option for meta. If you choose post type, then you can edit your post and change/add Custom Meta.

Hi !

So I tried to add the piece of code to my function.php, but I do still have a 404 error. Now I notice following the link you provided, that first people were using WPML. Could it be my plug-in that doesn’t work properly with X ? (polylang)
Also could it be my file structure somehow ? or my urls ?

Hi again (10 min later ^^)

So I fixed it. I assumed it is linked to this url problem and went checking for settings in Polylang.
So I can’t say for sure what fixed it, but here is what I did for the record :

– I cleaned my my WP super cache.
– de-activate polylang : no bug so it was caused by the plugin.
– in PL settings, there was a message about setting somethings default language… I followed the link thinking it would take me to some page but no… did it changed something ? perhaps.
– then I just changed the language order of english to 1 in the language list… also I don’t think this matters a lot.
– In the third tabs of settings though, I checked this little box saying “the welcome page only contain the language code instead of the name” changing http://www.xm-studio.com/fr/xm-studio/ in http://www.xm-studio.com/fr/…

and here it works.
Perhaps you’ll find out where the magic were, and it might help someone else ! If you have a Clue on what might be the real fix among that, I’d be curious to know 😉
