Hi, long-time, happy x-theme user. I’m using Cornerstone for the first time and it seems from my research that CSS is the only way to change individual buttons. To me this seems like a regression of progress. Why can’t there be a functionality to change it like in VC? I thought Cornerstone made things easier and less time consuming (especially for beginner developers). In this instance it’s become more difficult.

    Please advise. Thank you.

    Hey There,

    Thanks for noticing the difference.

In order to clear up the confusion and overall performance of Visual Composer and Cornerstone, we have managed to list down a few differences between these two plugins here.

    1. Building experience – with cornerstone, it’s much faster and more manageable options through inspector. All needed setting and options of the builder is available on one location.

    2. Performance – It doesn’t need to parse content every time you plan to edit your content. Thus, much faster loading and processing.

Parsing existing content and shortcodes directly from the editor requires more processing power and connection requests. And we’re trying to avoid that. I remember old issues with older theme that caused internal server error and firewall blocking due to spam connections of the other builder.

    3. Support/Update Coverage – since it’s something we develop, we can easily provide quick patches or fixes along with X theme. The limit and decisions are not imposed by another author, but by us. We can easily respond for bug and temporary fixes if available 🙂

As for X shortcodes, visual composer and cornerstone still uses almost same elements. Except that, in cornerstone, content band and containers become section and rows. And responsive text shortcode become part of cornerstone setting. And there is no lightbox element on cornerstone, though it still possible through text element and lightbox standard shortcode. And there are new elements added in cornerstone, and there will be more.

As for SEO, they are almost just the same since it uses the same elements and shortcodes from us.

    Hope this helps!
