    Hey you all,

I have a client that would like to password protect a PDF book and issue a password to access it through email.

My issue is that WordPress creates a lot of linking to documents through things like attachment pages etc and we need to keep the document out of Google too. I don’t think the ‘Protect’ shortcode will protect the file enough to keep it from being indexed eventually.

Is there a better way through the theme, or otherwise, to actually password protect the file download itself, disable attachment pages or anything else?

We basically need to find the best methods to protect this file.

    Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! Perhaps you need a 3rd party plugin to protect the pdf file. You might be interested in check this article: https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/create-a-password-protected-download-file-6838

    Hope this helps.
