cgenselParticipantHello,
I have a quick question about Contact Form 7. I have set up a contact form and it is telling me I have a configuration error. When I check the documentation it links to about Contact Form 7 configuration errors I’m not seeing relevant resolutions. My site is temporarily on a subdomain while under development so I don’t know if this is an issue? I would have thought based on the code that it doesn’t matter because the relevant email to address is live, but I’m not very familiar with these forms.
When I try using the form on the site it says the message is sent successfully but no message ever arrives. Thanks for any insight.

cgenselParticipantAddendum: the message belatedly arrived. However, the backend still tells me I have a configuration error.
Thanks!

JoaoModeratorHi There,
That is often related to the permission at your hosting
If you are having issues sending or receiving emails from the built-in contact form, there could be a couple reasons why.
1. Please make sure you have a valid, working email address inserted in the email field in theme options on the contact tab.
2. Always check your junk or spam folder if you are not receiving the emails in your inbox. It’s possible they are being sent there.
3. The email is sent to you FROM the email defined in theme options panel, if the email address defined in theme options panel is not from the same domain for e.g, [email protected], you will have to defined SMTP for the external host using WP Mail SMTP Plugin.
WP Mail SMTP by WPForms – The Most Popular SMTP and Email Log Plugin
This solution often works.
Let us know how it goes.

cgenselParticipantHi Joao,
I added an addendum to my original post- I am not having problems sending emails with the form. There is, however, a configuration error message popping up in the backend. It doesn’t seem to be affecting functionality but I don’t know what it means, so my question was about that part. Your test email that you just sent worked just fine for example, but in the back end it still tells me there is a configuration problem. Can you lend any insight to that?
Thanks,
Katie

FriechModeratorHi Katie,
Its on the subject field the error is coming from.
You set the subject just a tag and it could be possibly a blank if the user does not fill it up. A blank subject is not allowed that is where the configuration warning is coming from. Read more about configuration errors here: http://contactform7.com/configuration-errors/
You can add some static text on that subject field.
After resolving this, you can simple dismiss the Misconfiguration notice you’re seeing on top of your dashboard.
Hope it helps, Cheers!
