    Hi,
I’ve done this a bunch of times before – but on this occasion I’m getting an error when trying to install the x-child theme – that the parent theme needs to be installed.
I’ve checked through a bunch of articles on the forum, checked that the parent theme directory is lower case etc. But I can’t figure out what’s wrong.
When I view Appearance >> Themes I see the following –
    Broken Themes

The following themes are installed but incomplete.
    Name Description
X – Child Theme The parent theme is missing. Please install the “x” parent theme. Delete

I will supply login details in a separate reply.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hey There,

    Thanks for writing in!

Please try to delete the uploaded child theme and upload it via FTP.

Let us know how it goes! If the issue is still persists, let us know. We’d be happy to help you out further.

    Thanks for understanding!

    Hi Rahul,
    Thank you for your response.
Since logging this call I have deleted and completely recreated my WordPress install – just to ensure it wasn’t something from a previous theme causing a problem.
So, clean WordPress install, add X theme, then add x-child – didn’t work, same error – deleted x-child and uploaded via FTP instead – same problem.
I have re-created the user login details previously advised in this case.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Thanks for your help. I fixed this myself.
It seems like I’d managed to upload the parent theme to
    wp-content\themes\x\x\>theme files>
    rather than
    wp-content\themes\x\<theme files>
I delete the parent theme, re-uploaded with the correct directory structure and all is well.
Would be really good if the parent them could maybe warn you if you’ve not installed in the ‘standard’ directory maybe?
    Thanks again.
    Kind Regards
    Mark
