leehart09ParticipantHello,
I’ve just launched my website and it all seemed to be working great. I had searched the forums and found a way to hide the wordpress bar for users of the site, and they weren’t gaining access to the wp-admin dashboard. However, since yesterday I’ve noticed a bit of an issue with the site. I set up a test user account, to see how the site was working as a non-admin. However, even though I have logged in as the test user, it shows on the front-end of my site that I am not logged in. When I click on the log in button, it brings me through to the wp-admin area, and it seems that users are able to add posts etc. to my site which I really don’t want. I would really like to prevent users having access to this backend area, so I’m wondering if there are any steps I can take to prevent this happening?
Many thanks,
Catherine

ChristopherModeratorHi there,
You need to set users role as ‘Subscriber’. Subscriber can only manage his profile.
Please see the attachment.Hope it helps.

leehart09ParticipantHi Christopher – I found a plugin which removed dashboard access for non-admins, which seems quite good as logged in users cannot access the wp-admin when they type it in following the domain address now.
However, I’ve been noticing an issue with logins. When I am logged in to the site, it seems ok. But when I try to access one of the chat forums, it seems to automatically log me out so that I can’t carry on the conversation in the forum. It tells me I have to be logged in to comment. But, it seems it is only with certain pages this happens – i.e. in the Chat. Do you know what could be causing this?

leehart09ParticipantActually, I think it may just have been a caching issue on my safari browser. Fingers crossed its sorted now.

leehart09ParticipantHi Nico,
I thought that clearing the cache had cleared it, but it hasn’t.
On my site, my menu items include Home, Chat, Blog, Competitions as well as a few other items. Let’s say I log in – whenever I try and access the Home and Chat items, it shows that I’m logged out – and this is consistent in the sense that no matter how many times I try and access those items in the session, it still shows that I’m logged out. However, if I log out and log in again, this ‘log out’ glitch may only apply to the Home and Blog items (i.e. this time the Chat menu is fine). I’ve just tried to log in again, and this time its showing I’m logged out for the Home, Blog and Competitions.
I’ve no idea what’s making this happen. Do you have any thoughts?

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Are you using CloudFlare or may have installed a caching plugin like WordFence, W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache? Please keep in mind that after doing every updates, always remember to clear all caches when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.
Hope this helps.
