    Hello,

I’ve taken over the maintenance of a site with a very active blog dating back quite a long time. My client has suggested that the images in the blog posts used to be displayed in a mosaic and that since the last big update, now a simple grid. He’d like to display them in the mosaic again, if possible. Was there an option or formatting for this that I’m missing or we can add?

Second, to improve functionality, I’d like to change all media to opening to the media file or even more preferably, open in a lightbox window. Currently, they all open to an attachment page which the client is also not that thrilled with.

I’m happy to provide any info. There’s a screen shot attached of the grid that they’d like as a more aesthetic mosaic of images with the added feature of individually clicking into a lightbox.

    Thank You,
    R

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! Regretfully, at this time I am not entirely certain what it is you would like to accomplish based on the information given in your post. If you wouldn’t mind providing us with a little more clarification on what it is you’re wanting to do (a link to a similar example site would be very helpful, or perhaps some screenshots), we’ll be happy to provide you with a response once we have a better understanding of the situation.

We’d like to display the image gallery in a mosaic instead of a grid of boxes and very small thumbnails. This screenshot is now attached of how it is currently displaying which looks very unprofessional with the various sized boxes around the very small thumbnails. We’d like to restore all the previous blog posts to a more cleaned up ‘mosaic’ like image gallery, an example of a normal gallery is attached. Images can be display the same size or in their original aspect ratio but we’d like it clean and neat. We’re not sure where the switch occurred in the last big update.

    Hello,

I don’t recall them having a plug-in. The images should be displaying as a tiled gallery without the box outlines which I believe is what they’re referring to. They’ve had them display that way for years and it has changed to this format recently which isn’t very aesthetic…

When you are at the link, the images being displayed with the WP gallery is how it should be displayed with your theme?

If so, what would you recommend I use for a mosaic/tiled image gallery with lightbox and how can I get previous blog articles (and there are many) to show up with the new formatting?

    Hi Risa,

Thanks for updating in! I would recommend to use a 3rd party plugin that could convert all existing WP Gallery into a masonry or mosaic/tile layout. Perhaps any of these may help:

    jQuery Masonry Image Gallery

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=masonry

Please let us know how it goes.

I tried jQuery Masonry Image Gallery and it’s doing a great job for now. I’d like to get images to open in lightboxes but I’ll search for a plugin that does all. This one is great for what I’m looking for in the meantime.

    I really appreciate the help.
