    Hi

I’ve an issue with POSTs with Portrait Featured images

If I have a POST with PORTRAIT Featured image:
    – I see it with correct Portrailt orientation into MOBILE devices
    BUT
    – I see it with wrong Landscape orientation into DESKTOP devices

    Please, take a look to:
    http://agenziagamma.ddns.net:8888/wordpress/demo-blog/

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank You

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! As you are using Masonry layout, the posts should be squarish as it is and you can’t get portrait view for the posts. You can use standard layout to get this but it won’t look good with portrait images I believe.

    Cheers!

    Hi there,

I can’t suggest a feasible solution if you use the Masonry layout as it will break the whole purpose of Masonry. You can use the Standard Layout from Customize > Blog > Style > Standard

    Cheers!

    Hi,

Please download your images and rotate them to the correct orientation using an image editor.

I checked your image meta data and the orientation is wrong.

    Hi there,

You should edit them with photo editing software and rotate them. WP Media will only rotate them but the same orientation data still exists. http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/digitalphotography/f/sideways-pictures.htm

    Thanks!

I’ve edited some images with an external image editor, but when I upload them to WP, I have the same issue,

Please could you send 1 portrait image (edited as you suggested me), so I upload it in my environment and I test the result?

    Thank you

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello There,

Here it is an example of uploaded image with the following EXIF datas

    Filename - image-3-862x647.jpg
    Orientation - Right top
    ExifOffset - 38
    ColorSpace - sRGB
    ExifImageWidth - 4032
    ExifImageHeight - 3024

    Please, take a look to:
    http://agenziagamma.ddns.net:8888/wordpress/demo-blog/

    • On DESKTOP devices: WRONG Feature Image orientation for both layout Masonry or Standard
    • On MOBILE devices: everything works fine (CORRECT Feature Image orientation)

If I rotate image from WP Media Library, I get exactly the opposite situation:
WRONG orientation on MOBILE devices and CORRECT orientation on DESKTOP devices

    Thank You

    Hello There,

I did some research and a lot of people have experienced this. They suggested a 3rd party plugin be installed. Please check this out: https://wordpress.org/plugins/image-rotation-fixer/

This issue is a bug in WordPress. You can follow the trac here: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/28676

    Hi

    Thank You for your indication

The suggested plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/image-rotation-fixer/) seems doesn’t work as requested

But, following your suggestions, I’ve found another plugin that seems resolve the problem:

    iOS images fixer

    Thank You again
