Chris StovallParticipantWell, I’m finally caught up enough since April to get back to testing this import between themes.
Here’s where the last thread left off.
https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/post-type-change/I exported the portfolio posts from the other theme and tried to import them to X theme. No good. You can see the results below.
What what I can see in the DB the X theme post types have a totally different naming structure.
What can I do to convert that to something X theme will see and import?
Failed to import “Logos”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “MyEcoWear Website”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “MyEcoWear Branding”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Shop Erotic eCommerce Site”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Nutrition and Wellness Works Brand”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Orcas Island Adventures Website”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Pfizer Event Promotion”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Asian Pacific American Event Promo”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Luggage Armour Product Photo Shoot”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Garden Grenades™ - Brand Partner”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Fuzzy Shorts™ Social Media”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Grab The Gold® Team USA Facebook Graphics”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Garden Grenades™ Website Front Page Rotator Images”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Garden Grenades™ Website Ads & Headers”: Invalid post type portfolio Failed to import “Garden Grenades™ Facebook Page”: Invalid post type portfolioThanks!

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing in! You can use other theme’s custom post type since each custom post registered with unique ID. So it’s not same with X portfolio as your imported CPT has the ID portfolio and X has x-portfolio.
Hope this makes sense.

Chris StovallParticipantYeah. I just ended up doing a search and replace in the XML file and it went okay. Not great. Some of the info made it. It’s a good place to start at lease.
