Randy SParticipantNot sure when it started happening but I’ve got an issue where the portfolio and blog items are not displaying in my site. I’ve had X Theme for over a year with no issues. And now both my Portfolio (Gallery on my site) and the Blog page look like they are loading, because you see the little animated dot counter, and then it looks like the page just loads nothing in the content area. But when I look with Firebug, the content is all there, each block has its image and caption, but it’s like their container is set in invisible. Really weird. Any ideas?
It’s of course a live site so I have to figure it out soon. Any help is appreciated.
See the Gallery and Blog sections from the main menu.

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing back. It seems you are using older version of X and Cornerstone that’s causing the problem.
Can you confirm that you are fully updated? (Theme and Plugins)You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.
If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.

Randy SParticipantI have downloaded the latest X theme to update with. It looks like Cornerstone is included. But what about Visual Composer? That doesn’t seem like is included in the update. Do I need it? And will I have to go purchase the update for that separately?

FriechModeratorHi There,
Cornerstone will automatically install with X|Theme, because the x|theme requires it.
You can install the Visual Composer under Addons > Extension, if you prefer to use it over Cornerstone as your page builder.
However, since your site is in latest WordPress (Version 4.6.1) we need you to update the X|Theme and Cornerstone on your site.
Since the automatic update is not working with old x|theme on a latest WordPress (4.6.x) you need to do the updating manually. To do that, please follow the guide provided here: https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/having-trouble-validating/#post-1164019
After a successful update of the x|Theme (4.6.2), delete your current Cornerstone (1.0.6). And then navigate to Addons panel. When you do that the x|theme should automatically re-install the Cornerstone in latest version (1.3.2)
Also completely delete the X – Shortcodes plugin because you dont need this anymore.
And since you’re using an old child theme, please do this: https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/update-messed-up-site-2/#post-780902 adjustment too to your child theme.
Remember to clear all caches after updating so that the code from the latest version is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers!

Randy SParticipantI have updated the X theme and Cornerstone and Visual Composer all to their latest versions. After a bit of a scare (the site layout fell apart), read up on updating the @import statement and was able to get everything looking as it should again. But my gallery and blog page are still not making the content items visible. It’s the same as it was. The block of content are there, and you can even mouse over them and click them to go to a gallery or blog post. They are just invisible.
I downloaded the latest child theme, but I haven’t installed that yet. Am I going to lose all my customization when I replace the the child theme?

FriechModeratorHi There,
It seems something is preventing the hentry to have the opacity 1 property. Please do a testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
In the meantime, you can add this on your custom CSS on Customizer.
.x-iso-container.cols-2>.hentry, .x-iso-container.cols-3>.hentry { opacity: 1 !important; }Thanks.

Randy SParticipantThanks. The CSS helped a bit. But nothing fades in anymore. It just kind of pops in. And there’;s some wierd stacking going on where items are piling up on top of each other. But at least they are visible. I will do amplugin test.
Also I asked about installing the updated X child theme. Will that screw up all the customization I did if I install it over the old child theme? Do I need to export setting first? I want to get everything updated and the child theme is the last piece, but I can’t tank the site in the process. Thanks for the advise and help.

LelyModeratorHi Randy,
Do let us know if plugin test works.
It is always recommended to backup your site. Check this:https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/child-theme-updates/ too. It will not affect your customization if you transfer all of it on the new child theme properly. Please setup a staging site and perform the update there to avoid any conflict on your live site.
