I used Visual Composer to create my site some time ago. Everything was working fine for a while and now every time I try to update a page using VC, the page goes blank with only the VC logo in the center of the screen and never comes out of that.

I get messages saying that I have updated X successfully, but the updates page says I am running X 4.0.1

    I am running WordPress 4.6.1

I then decided to install a child theme, which was successful
The following page told me to activate Cornerstone…which I did.

Now I cannot access anything at all. I only get this error:

Fatal error: Class ‘XSG’ not found in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas07_data01/64/2684164/html/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/includes/modules/integrations/x-shortcodes.php on line 31

    What happened? Please advise…

    Hi,

Please delete x-shortcodes folder in wp-content/plugins using ftp.

If that doesn’t help, would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

    – Link to your site
    – WordPress Admin username / password
    – FTP credentials

Don’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.

I deleted the x-shortcodes plugin and the site is back up.
I still cannot use Visual Composer to work on my pages. I only get that opening graphic that never leaves the center of the screen. It just freezes (with the little blinking graphic).
These are pages that I built in Visual Composer so I have to edit them in VC.

    Please advise…

    Hi There,

Thank you for the credentials, by saying “I only get that opening graphic that never leaves” do you mean the front end editor? Regretfully X|Theme does not fully support the VC frontend editor.

I did check the site and there are lots of things you need to update. Please update the WordPress itself first, the latest version of WP is 4.7

And then update the X|Theme and then the plugins (3rd party and bundle with X), you can refer here for the latest versions.

    Updating Your Theme and Plugins

Remember to clear all caches after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Let us know how it goes.

    Cheers!

I have updated X to the latest version. I cannot update WordPress yet (but that cannot be the reason I cannot update pages its WP 4.6.1) . Godaddy has not pushed out WP 4.7 yet and it may be another week before they do so.

I need to be able to update my website. Right now, I cannot. There is no activity from the Back-end or Front-end Visual Composer option (as I stated earlier). After updating, there has been no change. I still cannot update pages.

…Also, since I have updated X, there is a problem with my Plugins pages. I have a total of 14 plugins, but when I try to access plugins page I get 3 plugins listed then this:

Fatal error: Class ‘X_Update_API’ not found in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas07_data01/64/2684164/html/wp-content/themes/x/framework/functions/global/admin/addons/updates/class-plugin-updater.php on line 205

I tried updating the plugins from the WP “updates” panel, but no bueno.

    Please advise.

    Hello There,

Thanks for updating in! I did some further investigation. I noticed that you are using PHP version 5.4.45 and WordPress 4.5 requires at least 5.6 (https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/). This could possibly be the cause of the issue. In most cases you cannot update your PHP version yourself and need to contact your host about this. The upgrade process is an easy process and should be something your host can do for you without affecting your website or charging you for it. Here’s a letter you can send to your hosting company:

    Dear host,

I\'m interested in running the open-source WordPress <https://wordpress.org/> web software and
I was wondering if my account supported the following:

    - PHP 5.6 or greater
    - MySQL 5.6 or greater
    - The mod_rewrite Apache module

    Looking forward to your reply.

If you want to update Cornerstone, simply go to the Plugins section and deactivate Cornerstone. Once deactivated, please delete it to remove the old Cornerstone. To re install it again, you can simply visit X Addons section and Cornerstone will be automatically installed.

Hope this helps. Kindly let us know.
