Hate being a bother, – – – but – – – On the site I’m putting together (http://mypersonalsabbath.org/), on one page (http://mypersonalsabbath.org/?page_id=6799) the title doesn’t show. I see from other Forum posts mention of a “Do not show page title box”, and went to see if that was checked. Heck – I couldn’t even find that box.
I mention this so you will know to use small words in your reply. 🙂
Don’t know what I did or didn’t do differently.
Thank you in advance for your help.
BTW – now even our pastors are using “X”. Fun stuff

    Hi Tracy,

You’re using Blank – No Container Template on this page: http://mypersonalsabbath.org/?page_id=6799, so title won’t show in content area. Please change it to Default Template.

Another thing, you’re using too old version of X theme (version 1.8.5) which has some issues with latest browsers & WordPress. So please update your theme to latest version 2.4.0 by following this KB article: Updating Your Theme and Plugins.

Well – You guys are amazing, but I have some ground to cover before I become “adequate”.
Downloaded themeforest-58719101-x-the-theme.zip and unzipped it, resulting in two unzipped folders; _

folder MACOSX, containing folder x_package, which in turn contains folder x and folder x_photoshop

    AND
folder x_package, containing folder Licensing, folder x and folder x_ photoshop.

My FTP (CoffeCup Direct FTP) will not open up a zipped folder to get at the unzipped material, and attempts to moving or copy these files produces an error message asking do we really want to move/copy without encryption.

Further, supposing I find an FTP that will go after unzipped material inside a zipped folder, which one of the above do we go after? Is it folder x_package? Do I drag the whole shebang over, or just the x file?

Or can you name an FTP that will do the trick?
Thank you for your patience. It is greatly appreciated.

    Hey Tracy,

This is the right directory “folder x_package, containing folder Licensing, folder x and folder x_ photoshop” Just drag the X folder only and drop inside wp-content/themes/

Please refer to this guide as well http://theme.co/x/member/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/

Use FileZilla FTP client for this.

I think we’re there. Dashboard>appearance>themes>X theme details reports being at reviswion 2.4.0.
    Phew!
Turns out installing Filezilla client was no picnic, and it reported one failed file – we’ll see how that resolves, huh?
    Anyhow – thanks a heap.
And thanks again for your patience.

    Me again.
Re-did the X FTP thing. no failures this time. The editing appears to be working just fine. Interestingly, when right clicking to unpack the zip file, kept getting the message: “Do you want to copy this folder without encryption? A problem is preventing this folder from being encrypted. Skip or Yes”
I picked the go ahead option, and it seems to have worked. Don’t know – sometimes things work oddly on this 64-bit Vista machine.

However – I note that now on Internet Explorer 9.0.30, the home page is just a train wreck. The jpgs no longer fit in the window, and the block grid items never do show up. In fact, all of the background graphics on all the pages are way too large to fit. Worst example – http://mypersonalsabbath.org/?post_type=product the Shop page is just blank on I.E. And on the “about” page, the Parallax is goofy – the background image comes out way too large to really work.

Maybe ought to put “Optimized for Google Chrome ONLY” on the header?
Would appreciate your thoughts on this.
    Thanks again

    Hey Tracy,

I tested your website and a shop page in IE 9 and it displayed correctly however when i clicked on compatibility mode the shop page disappeared like you mentioned. The compatibility mode displays the website in older version of IE. Please turn off the compatibility mode and test the website again.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/products/ie-9/features/compatibility-view

On April 8, 2014 Microsoft officially stopped supporting Windows XP. At this point, we’ve dropped support for IE8 in X theme. This helps us stay up to date with the latest standards in web technology.

The oldest IE we support is version 9, this version and newer are available in Microsoft’s currently supported Operating Systems (Vista, 7, 8)

Continued use of XP after April 8, 2014 is an active security risk. We recommend you look into upgrading any XP machines you administrate, and advise your clients to upgrade. Microsoft explains this in detail here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/enterprise/end-of-support.aspx

We’re sorry we can’t support IE8, but we’re certainly committed to making X the best it can be in today’s supported browsers and devices!

    Thanks for understanding. Take care!

Gotcha – I keep the XP machines off the air as much as possible.
But there are some VERY expensive engineering and CAD/CAM I don’t want to pay for again. Kind of a hung jury.

Guess next pay period – a newer one.
    Thanks ever so much.
