Im just getting started and want to make sure that Im setting everything up correctly to begin with. If I plan on starting with one of the Standard Content demos, do I need to install and import it into a child theme in order to change picture, text, etc??

Also, does the demo I download have to look exactly like I want it to or for instance if I will be adding medical videos at some point for clients to view, do I need to find a demo layout that already allows for that or can that be embedded into a page at a later date?

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! Demo pages are built with Cornerstone. So you can just open them in Cornerstone and edit as you need. You don’t need Child Theme to use or modify them. Child Theme is necessary when you need something out of the box or need template change.

If you import a demo then the existing demo will be overridden so you can’t import demo later while editing one. But you can use a staging site and import the individual pages from there if needed.

So if this is my first site, would you recommend I use a demo standard content such as Integrity 1 or go a different direction? Also, do I have to worry about Theme updates? Will that override anything on a demo?

Also, if I need a site that can show some informational videos, do I need to find a demo that already shows videos or is that a widget/plugin I can add later?

Hi there,

Theme and your content are different things. So a theme update won’t change your content. You can import a demo to get start and to understand how the elements are placed so that you can start editing them. But importing demo is not necessary because you can easily add any element or content anytime. You will find video tutorials on our Knowledge Base and I’d suggest you to watch some video of Cornerstone first before getting started, it will make your journey easy.
