LiamHindsonParticipantHello,
I’ve been optimising the loading speed of my domain. While doing this, the icons throughout the website from the X theme have disappeared. They are currently instead showing a square placeholder (see home page).
Do you know how I can recover these icons? I’ll post my login details in a follow-up private message.
Thanks,
Liam

JoaoModeratorHi There,
Have you installed any plugins during your optmizing process?
If yes, You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
Otherwise let us know which steps you took when optimizing your website just before this occurred.
Thanks
Joao

LiamHindsonParticipantHi Joao,
I’ve checked this but it doesn’t seem to be a plugin or a cache issue. I’ve deactivated all of both and the problem still remains.
What I’m worried about is that the x-icon file (if it even exists) may have accidentally been deleted during the optimisation. Is there a file I can search for that should contain the icons?
Thanks,
Liam

JoaoModeratorHi Liam,
You can re-install X. You won´t save any changes because your changes are saved on the database.
Please do the following:
1. Revoke your API key from X Addons section (check the bottom of the page) and also remove it from your license page on Themeco.
https://community.theme.co/my-licenses/
2. Temporary disable any caching plugins and purge all your server cache.
3. Delete both X theme (/wp-content/themes/x) and Cornerstone plugin (/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone) by connecting to your FTP (your settings will be saved in the database)
4. Download the latest copy of X and upload it to your themes folder via FTP OR you can upload the x.zip via Appearance -> Themes section.
5. Latest version of Cornerstone will be installed automatically when you head over X Addons section. Now you try validating your X theme again and then try to install any other extension and it should function properly.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!
Joao

LiamHindsonParticipantHi Joao,
Thanks for this. I’ve made the change and worked out the problem in the process.
Everything was fine with the icons until I restarted W3 Total Cache. It looks like this is what is affecting the icons. I’ve worked through the different sections of the plugin and it seems to be the Minify section that is causing the problems. Do you have any suggestions for how to fix this as I’d preferably like to keep the Minify setting turned on to speed up the website?
Thanks,
Liam

Rue NelModeratorHey Liam,
Thanks for the updates. You can exclude the css style containing the icons. It is in Performance > Minify > Advanced. Perhaps adding the location of the css style file like:
http://your-domain.com/wp-content/themes/x/framework/css/dist/site/stacks/{your-stack}.cssPlease make sure to have the correct file location. Hope this helps.
