    Hello!

I’ve fixed my site by uploading the latest version of X theme and reloading all of my images…and editing all of the image file names. So it’s happy now, BUT what happened and how do I make certain it doesn’t happen again?

My site was working pretty well, but I had been unable to do the last few x theme updates because it jacked up my menus so bad and I had zero time to try to resolve it. My bad and I wouldn’t admit it, but it could be why I had to spend half the day rebuilding the site today.

Today the site was down. My hosting was fine. When I logged into WordPress I noticed there were NO themes (I had x theme and a child theme) and NO images.

    What do you think happened?

How can I prevent it from happening in the future?

Also, now that I’ve paid attention to it and basically started from semi-scratch, the menus are fine. I still can’t use Cornerstone to edit though. Is that because the site was built pre-Cornerstone?

I’ve seen the error of my ways of having zero time to problem solve when updates aren’t happening and would love to learn what else went wrong.

    Thanks so much,
    Melanie

    Hi There,

    Thanks for writing in.

Not sure what happen to your site. Probably there is a malware or plugin conflict issue that causing this problem. It would best that you will always backup your site so that you could easily revert your site.

To check why is this happening, Would you mind sharing us your admin credentials and FTP.

Don’t forget to set it as private reply.

Lastly, are you the only one controlling the site?

    Thanks.

    Hi Melanie,

Sorry to hear that you had this issue. Looks like you have a backup/restore plugin that will access your files. So if it do something wrong, this could happen. Also your hosting provider might help you to track down the activities so that you can asses when the files were removed and possibly how. But usually a theme can not be disappear itself by any means and it doesn’t makes sense, right? Let’s ask your hosting provider if they have any log.

    Cheers!
