Here’s what I want to accomplish… I want to have a “link” post type that isn’t actually an accessible page. From the “recent posts” feed, I want the user to go directly to the external link, not a middle ground post page that just has the link in the content. Can you help me achieve this?

Here’s the page in question: http://dev.paterakoristudios.com/recent-news/

-If you click the fourth and fifth items, I’d like them to go directly to the external link.

    Thank you!

    Hello There,

    Thanks for posting in.
Thanks for writing in! Regretfully this isn’t a feature offered by X. It could be possible with custom development, but this would be outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this. X is quite extensible with child themes, so there are plenty of possibilities. On the other hand, this is something we can add to our list of feature requests. This way it can be taken into consideration for future development. All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive. Thanks!

Hi Lely, well what’s the point of a “link” post? Is it any different than a standard post where I just add the link in the content? I guess I just don’t really understand. Why would the recent posts feed show a link symbol on hovering and then not take me to the end link. It seems like this doesn’t work as intended or I am missing why this is even a feature.

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing back. The purpose of the “Link” type, “Quote” type is to give some additional styling to the post so the user can understand what’s inside. It’s not really usual to have the link directly to the external link rather it should take you to the post page and it’s usual.

However I understand what you are trying to achieve. It’s not really a theme feature or usual WordPress feature and that could be achieved through some plugin like this – https://wordpress.org/plugins/page-links-to/ and https://wordpress.org/plugins/quick-pagepost-redirect-plugin/

You can redirect your post to that external URL and it will do the job for you I believe.

    Cheers!
