    When I used the recent post short code to display a portfolio item of a certain category it didn’t work because the short code looked like this:

    [x_recent_posts type=”portfolio” count=”3″ section=”isa” orientation=”horizontal”]

    instead of

    [x_recent_posts type=”portfolio” count=”3″ category=”isa” orientation=”horizontal”]

    so by switching the word ‘section’ for ‘category’ it now works fine and displays the appropriate category.

    Perhaps this has been fixed on the latest version of X. I’m using X version 4.3.1.

    Upon checking our Recent Posts Shortcode Page I can see we have category there.
