Jared NParticipantI don’t know if anybody else has reported this issue, but I can’t seem to upload the latest version of X, which I’ve downloaded from my Themeforest download page.
I had 1.7.2 uploaded previously, but had completely removed it in order to upload the latest version.
I’m hosting with WPEngine, and I’ve also submitted a ticket to them, which is more likely.
But, I thought I’d bring it to your attention, just in case.
The error states… (on Chrome)

The webpage at http://dev2webfrogs.wpengine.com/wp-admin/update.php?action=upload-theme might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Error code: ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTEDCan you provide some insight into this?

ChristianModeratorHi Jared,
Have you gone through how to update the theme and plugins documentation?
And, may I know what .zip file you have uploaded?
We’re here to help. 🙂

Jared NParticipantI’ve reviewed them. I don’t have access via FTP. This development domain was set up for me by the company’s owner, through WP Engine.
Because of this, I’ve been having to remove the X theme and then upload the new version. I keep backups of everything, so this way of updating shouldn’t be an issue. The reason for my contact regarding this issue was to make sure there isn’t a corrupt file in your theme.
Once I’ve ruled that out, then I can focus on WP Engine.

RubinKeymasterHey Jared,
our file is not corrupted and should work fine. What exactly is the problem.

Jared NParticipantI get the following error when I try to upload the newest version…
(this is after unpacking it. I’m only uploading the installable WP files)

RubinKeymasterHey Jared,
I do not follow completely? The whole x.zip folder is an installable WordPress theme you should not change anything, and nothing will get overwritten besides if you have changed any of the files? If you have troubles uploading within the admin panel then try doing it through FTP like we explain it in our knowledgebase article. Did you try that?

Jared NParticipantLike I said before, this development domain was set up by the owner through the host. I don’t have FTP (or in WPEngine’s case (this is the host), it’s an SFTP connection) access, and that’s what I’m trying to achieve right now. I’ve submitted a ticket to them.

Jared NParticipantI’ll reconnect with you after I’ve dealt with the hosting company.

RubinKeymasterHey Jared,
yep this is indeed a worrying thing especially since you were able to upload the older version of X just fine?

Jared NParticipantThis was a permissions setting. I was able to get it fixed.
Thanks,
Jared

ChristianModeratorHey Jared,
WPEngine’s structure is strict due to security reasons and that’s a good thing. But, when the browser can’t connect to a website like the error you got, it is most likely due to server settings.
Thank you for putting up this topic. 🙂
