    Hi,

My site started loosing traffic at alarming rates, so I did some investigating to find out what was happening.

I had one custom post type on my old theme that was recreated, and all pages retained the same URL so I was not sure what was going on.

It seems that there are infinite duplicates redirecting to homepage

    /page/1/ to /page/100000000000/ all exist

It seems to do it for all pages as well
    /all-reviews/page/10000000/
    /blog/ and so on

    /blog/100000000000/
when the real page would be eg:
    /blog/page/100000000000/

but for some reason the first exists instead of giving 404

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing back. Would you share us how did you test to find the redirection? Let us know how could we replicate or see the issue on our end. You can switch to a default Theme and check again because it doesn’t seems related to X.

    Cheers!

Yes, the link I posted from stackexchange.com details the issue, and how it is caused when you assign a static page to the front page of wordpress. It causes issues depending on the previous theme that was used with creating endless duplicate pages.

I simply added the suggested 404 code and now all those extra pages no longer index.
