I would like to use X to build a WordPress website.

I have a client that sells machinery. He wants to be able to go onsite to a specific location with his iPhone or Android phone, take a picture of the machine he wants to sell and then easily upload the picture with info and pricing to his website using a simple smartphone application. He is not a designer or an IT person and is always on the move, so he is looking for as simple of a transaction with as few steps as possible. Ideally he would like to take the picture, type the information, and then send to a listed category all in a simple fluid motion. Is this possible? Do you know of an phone app that would work for this task?

    Thank You

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! Yes there are mobile apps for Android and iOS that you will find here – https://apps.wordpress.com/mobile/

    Let’s try them.

Also X is responsive so you can also use the browser to login to the site and update page/posts etc. But if you use page builders (Visual Composer, Cornerstone) then it might not be convenient to edit them using Mobile devices since they use modern technology that might not be compatible in mobile.

    Cheers!

I have seen the WordPress mobile app but have not used it. I am not sure I understand what you mean. I definitely want to build using Cornerstone, but what I am specifically asking about is once the portfolios and menu items to them are in place, will he be able to use WordPress mobile (or another app if anyone has a suggestion) to log directly into the site and edit the pages if the site was built using Cornerstone? If Cornerstone just interfaces with the standard WordPress infrastructure then I would think that WordPress mobile should work because he would simply be editing something in WordPress that was already built thus circumventing the need to use Cornerstone. If Cornerstone somehow makes it so that there is a different platform that looks like WordPress and uses the same database structure, then it might not work with the mobile updating app and I would have to find a different solution since Cornerstone doesn’t work with mobile devices. He is very clear that he wants it to be a simple process that is easy to do with his mobile devices.

I would just give it a go and experiment with it, but I do not want to buy a license that I would not need, that is why I am asking specifically about this site before I make a mistake attempting to do something that would not work in the first place.

    Thanks

    Hello There,

Unfortunately. pages created using Cornerstone is not advisable to be edited in smartphone. The screens is too small to display the layout element on the left and the page on the right.

    Hope this helps.
