Gerald EParticipantHi there,
I want to have a grid that contains of 1 image with skin layer that links to a single blog post. I dont want an array. It seems with “essential grid” and “the grid” can only select multiple posts part of a cateogory or a slug.
maybe the solution is to filter for a custom meta identifier? but i dont know how to add a custom meta identifier to a post…
Can you help me pls?November 9, 2016 at 8:26 am #1250075
ChristianModeratorHey Gerald,
Regretfully, at this time I am not entirely certain what it is you would like to accomplish based on the information given in your post. If you wouldn’t mind providing us with a little more clarification on what it is you’re wanting to do (a link to a similar example site would be very helpful, or perhaps some screenshots), we’ll be happy to provide you with a response once we have a better understanding of the situation.
Thanks.

Gerald EParticipantCertainly and sorry for the confusion.
I would like to replicate the “services” part like here:
http://privateinvestigatorwordpresstheme.en.websitesexamples.com/
and detailed screenshot here:
http://screencast.com/t/WBQ1Wx1SAIt’s an image with a skin overlay to a single post or page.
Thanks for your guidance.

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Thank you for the clarifications. You simply need to create a grid and use Post as your source. This should enable you to have each of the grid or grid element link to a single post. With the help of the skin, you can present the grid the same or at least looks the same as your example url. And if necessary, you may even need to create your own skin. Please check out Thegrid or Essential plugin and how you can use it here: https://community.theme.co/kb/integrated-plugins-essential-grid/, https://community.theme.co/kb/integrated-plugins-the-grid/
And to create a custom skin, please check this out:

https://www.themepunch.com/essgrid-doc/item-skin-editor/Hope this helps.

Gerald EParticipantThanks for the feedback. However as I mentioned in my first message, it seems that THE GRID and ESSENTIAL GRID can only link to post types (part of tags, category etc), but not to the category page or a single post itself.
Does that make sense? I looked through all the documentation but i am stuck.November 10, 2016 at 3:31 am #1251405

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Yes you can still display 1 grid item and have it link or display a specific post. For example, in my example grid;
– You can go to the Grid Settings and make sure that it will only display 1 column in all screen sizes (http://prntscr.com/d5rco7).
– And then you go to the Media Source and select the post type with the additional parameters indicating the post ID of the post you want to display (http://prntscr.com/d5rdcg). To find out the post ID, you can check out our knowledge base: https://community.theme.co/kb/how-to-locate-post-ids/
– And by the way, you have to make sure that the maximum post entries is only limited to 1 (http://prntscr.com/d5re7s).
– Lastly, before testing your site, since you have installed WP Super Cache, you need to clear the plugin cache to make sure that all your latest changes will be applied.
As you can see in my example here: http://scheidungsinfo.at/an-x-test/, only one post is not being displayed. It is quite big because I am using a one column row and it occupy the entire column width.
Hope this make sense.
