kingpupParticipantI’m trying to add social media icons to my Ubermenu. The stock ones they provide are fine. Anyway I’m following their documentation to the letter in trying to implement this and the icons are just not appearing. Here’s what I’m doing for each icon:
1) Add menu item, give it a navigation label (because otherwise the item will disappear from WordPress after you hit save: bug?)
2) Click on the Uber button on the item to access that item’s Uber settings
3) Select “Disable text” from the General Settings”
4) Choose the desired icon from the Icon tab
5) Save everythingDespite this, the icons are not displaying. The actual link is there on the menu, it’s just invisible. I’ve changed the item’s background color in the “Customize Style” tab just to confirm that an item is there – it is. I’ve even tried changing the font color to black in case the font color determines the icon color (I have no idea). Nope, not working.
To confirm, this is looking at the desktop version of the site. I haven’t even gotten into how the menu works on mobile yet.
Any idea of the kind of thing I should be looking for?

kingpupParticipantSome additional info: I’m not seeing a full set of icon options in the Ubermenu Main Configuration settings. I can see what options are supposed to be there because of the screenshot in their documentation. Attached are screenshots of my options versus the ones shown in the doc.
EDIT: I see now that those options only appear when you install the optional Icons Extension, sorry about that! So those options are obviously not the answer to my problem.

RahulModeratorHi There,
Greetings! thank you for contacting us 🙂
Please refer to the video tutorial in http://sevenspark.com/docs/ubermenu-3/demo/menu-bar
At 11 minute, it shows how to display social icons in Uber Menu.
Let me know if this helps. Thanks!

kingpupParticipantYes I have followed the official documentation thanks – he’s not doing anything differently in that video to the way I’m doing it. But no icon appears. As an experiment, if I set a background color for the item, that background color appears on the menu but just a few pixels wide, suggesting that it’s just the default padding but with no item within.

RadModeratorHi there,
Looks like the Font Awesome stylesheets isn’t loading. Would you mind providing your FTP login credentials as well?
And please backup your site, I’ll conduct some test that may affect your existing configuration.
Thanks!

kingpupParticipantHi – before I give out my FTP credentials, which I’m always a little uneasy about doing (no offense!), is it worth mentioning that that icon is displaying correctly when I view the page in Cornerstone, but as soon as I view the page outside of Cornerstone, it disappears? I mention this in case it inspires an obvious solution.

RadModeratorHi there,
It’s because cornerstone has Font Awesome too, which is loaded in the builder. What I’m not sure is what and why Font awesome are stripped out from the front page for Ubermenu. And we can only narrow the search by checking it thoroughly.
Your credentials are safe as long as it’s private, only you and us can see it.
Thanks!

ChristianModeratorTo enable Icons in UberMenu, check Load Font Awesome in UberMenu > General Settings.
Thanks.

kingpupParticipantWow who would have guessed it was something so simple! I guess I didn’t turn this on when I first went through the settings because I thought it was “loaded elsewhere” in my setup, i.e. X. Thanks.
