    Hello!

I was finally able to activate visual composer on my site, but found that it was not functioning properly. After investigating on this forum I found that I somehow have installed the incorrect version of VS (4.12) it seems I need the version that is compatible with X. Can someone please direct me to where this is? Was it included in my initial x theme download? If so how can I access it?

I am obviously quite a newb… I thanks so much for helping.

    Hello Molly,

    Thanks for writing in!

You can install compatible version of Visual Composer from X Addons > Home.

    Thanks.

    Hi Molly,

You are using a really old version of X.

You have X 2.40 while we are on 4.61

    https://theme.co/changelog/

Note that we reccomend you to update your theme but it is possible that you will face some issues once you do that since it is a very bug jump from 2.4 to 4.61.

Once you updated it you will find the ADDONS tab on your WP Admin Dashboard.

At this time you will need to manually update X.

To do that, first of all we reccomend you doing a backup of your website.

    Than >

    1. Temporary disable any caching plugins and purge all your server cache. Deactivate and delete X Shortcodes Plugin.

    2. Delete both X theme (/wp-content/themes/x) and Cornerstone plugin (/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone) by connecting to your FTP (your settings will be saved in the database)

    3. Download the latest copy of X and upload it to your themes folder via FTP OR you can upload the x.zip via Appearance -> Themes section.

    4. Latest version of Cornerstone will be installed automatically when you head over X Addons section. Now you try validating your X theme again and then try to install any other extension and it should function properly.

Please also check our our knowledge base to know how: https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/

Let us know if you have further questions,

    Joao
