zenificParticipantI need to fix the looks of the Main Menu in the header but when I turn the Customizer on the page width decrease changes the menu to the hamburger menu icon. Is there some way I can change the media query temporarily? If not what can I do? Difficult to try and fix something you can’t see. Also, for colors, Customizer doesn’t have boxes to show or type in hex or rgb values. Do I just need to use Chrome’s inspect element and do custom CSS to change everything? I’m getting very frustrated and disappointed with X Theme. And can answers in the Forum be emailed to me?

zenificParticipantI’m working locally in localhost. I was trying to modify or somehow get rid of the Silvertooth demo theme. In Customizer by changing some settings I got rid of the upper header that Silvertooth has, and put my logo on the right, but now it’s got a shadow box and lines above the menu items. But when I’m in Customizer I can’t see the full menu, only the hamburger icon.
I’d really just like to have a blank theme to work with but when I tried that with a fresh WordPress install the Revolution Slider doesn’t work. Dragging it in Cornerstone get an error message. Tried deactivating and reactivating the plugin but that didn’t help. In that site I hadn’t installed or downloaded any demo content. I didn’t really intend to with the first site, was just clicking on buttons, thinking I’d see what the demo themes look like and the next thing it was installing the whole theme and no way to stop or remove it. I’m about ready to give up on this, just a total waste time so far with X Theme. Nothing works like I expected it to, and not having basic things like input boxes for hex value colors is very annoying.

zenificParticipantI just installed a different demo with a header like what I want and will see if I can get any better results. Does it matter if I have multiple development sites in localhost running X Theme? They’d all be different versions for the same single production website.
Is there an image plugin for X theme that includes layers for text overlays? The Image plugin doesn’t seem to have any layering capability and searching the Knowledge Base doesn’t come up with anything. Anything you can recommend? Thanks

JoaoModeratorHi There,
To use multiple image layers I would recommend using Revolution or Layer Slider both come bundled with X and you can find on section Addons.
You are able to just validate one development site even on localhost.
Let us know if you have further questions,

zenificParticipantWhat plugin is being used to display all the images with text overlays at this url?

JadeModeratorHi there,
The Agency demo uses the Ethos stack and that structure/feature goes native to that stack. The image got an h2 element where there is an opaque background color set to it through CSS.

zenificParticipantSo if I want to have images with text overlays like that do I need to use the Agency demo theme and modify it to look more like I want? Or is there some way to get the code for the images with text overlay independently without having to have the whole demo theme? What I’d really like is just to have a row or two of images with text overlay without all the rest of it. Thanks
What I’m trying to make is a website for a non-profit organization, but none of your themes seem to be made for that. They wanted it done with WordPress, but I have far more experience with Drupal.

JoaoModeratorHi Zenfic,
If you have experience with Drupal I am sure you will catch up with X very fast, X can be used for absolutely any type of websites.
You don´t need necessarily to use the Agency Demo. Would you mind providing a mockup of what you want to achieve?
I believe A block grid with text overlay could do the job and you would be able to insert it on any page.
Please refer to my last answer on this thread:
Hope it helps,

zenificParticipantHere’s an existing site the non-profit organization likes. I’d like to try a make something similar.
Samaritan’s Purse runs on WordPress, but I think the theme is hand coded.
I’d like to have a similar header at top, but without the second row with the text and date.
There’s a popup to the right, I close that, I don’t want anything like that, and then the slider moves up on the page.
Their slider has 3 images cycling counterclockwise, 1 large image, and 2 small images stacked on the right. Can Revolution Slider do that? If not I’ll just have one large image.
Below the slider there are images with text overlays and below each image is a headline and text. All are responsive, the images and text all stack in rows with the same number of images/columns in each row depending on the width. I really want that.
Skip the next row with the large circle, I won’t have that.
Finally the footer. That’s easy to do.
The difficult part is the images with text overlays and text below, and getting it all to work correctly responsively. After looking at the Samaritan’s Purse website do you still think the Grid plugin is best for that? I’ve never used it before, don’t know anything yet about it.Looking at the themes available with X none seem to match what I want (I wish one did), though maybe I could modify the Agency demo. I’m not sure what’s the easiest way to proceed. Any suggestions are appreciated since I’m no expert at WordPress or the X theme, but I can understand technical replies. Thanks.

JoaoModeratorHi Zenific,
I believe ethos (Same used o agency has a quite similar header, you can choose Ethos by going to > Appereance > Customizer > Custom > CSS.
Their slider has 3 images cycling counterclockwise, 1 large image, and 2 small images stacked on the right. Can Revolution Slider do that? If not I’ll just have one large image.
Unfortunately that is not a feature offered by X, You can have one image and use Slider Revolution as a Post Slider.

Explore yourself:

Those two plugins come bundled with X, they both look great in my opinion.
I guess having a site as a reference it is great way to start to design your own, but I also believe in order to achieve your goals you need to be a bit flexible, if you try to mimic 100% it can involve a quite amount of work, X offers you so many cool features that can be used to create a website as good as the reference website or better, it is just about looking a bit over it´s features and trying to visualize how to implement them to achieve similar results.
Can you let us know what demo you are using now? Or provide a screenshot of your wesbite to facilitate us helping us with the customization if you judge necessary? I believe you can keep the template you are using but changing for ETHOS as recommended above would be a great start.
Feel free to ask us further questions, it is our pleasure to help you.
Thanks
Joao
