    Hello,

The shop page on my site is loading really slow. I have already implemented the recommendations provided on the link https://community.theme.co/kb/performance/

I suspect catalog images on shop page are the reason for slow loading. How to reduce resolution of the catalog images shown on the shop page?

    Cheers!

    Hey there,

    You can try using https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/

It would compress your images and reduce their file size.

    Thanks

    Hi Rahul,

Thanks, but I have already been using wp-smush it.

Also, please note google page speed insights ranks my Desktop viewing for shop page with score of 0/100. Google recommends to “Optimize Images”.

Please advise how to increase this score?

Can thumbnail image resolution of each product on shop page be reduced?

    Thanks!!

    Hi there,

Thanks for updating. Your low page score is pretty obvious for the store. You are using very large images for the products that must be optimized because there are lot of images. Like when you can just place 300×300 or max 400×400 image, you are using 1000×1000 resolution and those are not optimized. Let’s use a smaller dimension image and make sure to optimize them. You can use http://compressor.io/ or http://www.tinypng.com/ to optimize the image without loosing the quality.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Hello,

Image size of 1000×1000 is ideal to provide a high level of detail, particularly for zoom. Wp-smushit is enabled and optimizes each image.

Please note, page score for mobile is 60/100, and “optimize image” is not a recommendation. This makes us believe image is not the issue, instead a setting on desktop viewing is not reducing shop page image resolution.

Please advise if shop page image size can be adjusted?

    Thanks!!

    Hi there,

Thanks for updating. The problem is with your product archive page which will show the “Product Image” which is thumbnail size and you don’t need high level detail for that. You can use high resolution for the “Product gallery Image”. Since the archive page contains lot of products so the “Product Image” matters here. For the single products, a few high resolution image won’t affect the performance.

So let’s use a more optimized and lower resolution image as “Product Image” to take off the load from shop page.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Cheers!

    You are welcome.

tinypng.com is also a great page to compress imgs, you should test it and see how it impacts your image sizes.
