    Hi!

    I’ve hidden my default portfolio h1:s and replaced them with my own h1:s: http://dev.monroedesign.se/portfolio/ace13-webb/

    Does Google index these pages with my new h1 or still with the hidden x-header-landmark?

    SEO is very important to me so I got to make sure they are all correct and not indexed with double h1:s.

    Hello There,

    Thanks for writing in! Google will look for all the elements on the page. It will seek the articles tag, .hentry class and even the .entry-title class. If any of these were absent it will look further for the headings like h1, h2, h3, etc. You might want to check out this article: https://support.google.com/webmasters/topic/4581352?hl=en&ref_topic=4581229

    Thanx for the useful link. 🙂

    I do build all my sites with attention to SEO, so it’s not a new concept. My concern with my portfolio H1:s came about when I looked at the <!DOCTYPE html> for these pages (please see attached image). I mean, does Google’s crawlers directly see that one H1 is hidden and the visible H1 is the one that should be indexed?

    If not, I’m considering customizing the default .x-header-landmark H1 so that it is placed below the featured image and looks like the attached image.

    What is the best solution?

    Hey there,

    First off, is there a reason why you’re hiding the .x-header-landmark by CSS? If you’re not using it site-wide by turning off Breadcrumbs in Appearance > Customize > Header

    Multiple h1s won’t hurt SEO and that is also the correct way of structuring a page in HTML5. Matt Cutts from Google Webmasters explains it best.

    Hi!

    Thanx for the great video. I subscribed to the channel right away!

    The reason why I’m hiding the .x-header-landmark is that I can’t figure out how to place it below the featured image instead of the default placement above featured image. 🙂

    I’m not sure I get what you mean about breadcrumbs? Yes, I did turn them off site wide.

    The breadcrumbs and x-header-landmark are in one structure so disabling it turns off or eliminates x-header-landmark from the page.
