I’m sure there is any easy solution to this, but I’m trying to get full-width rows, yet have the actual content constrained to a container in the middle of the page. So, for example, if I wanted a full-width row with an orange background, and then I wanted text to occupy only the 1200px in the middle of the window, what would I need to do?

I’ve tried different page templates, but my content is either constrained inside a box in the middle of the page or either it stretches all the way edge to edge.

See the attachment as an example. It shows a full-width blue background bar, yet the content is constrained to the middle of the page.

Also, is there anything in X Theme that would cause it to cache the pages of my site? I like to use Firebug to live edit my CSS. And then I save the edits to my style.css file. However, after I save the edits, and they are uploaded via FTP, if I refresh the page, the CSS changes don’t show up because the older CSS file is cached.

I’ve tried clearing the cache, but that doesn’t work. It seems like after a lengthy period of time, the changes will show up on refresh. But I need the changes to show up immediately on refresh. I thought maybe it was just Firefox doing this, but Safari and Chrome are doing the same thing so I figured maybe there is a setting somewhere in the X Theme that is causing it to do this.

Hi MathruD – Just thought I would offer a different workflow that might help your issue.

The way I edit my CSS is by using the Customizer –> Custom –> Edit CSS area and then I preview the changes on my site. I then open developer tools directly within that window (I use Chrome) and make the tweaks I want. When I’m happy with them, I simply copy/paste them over into the CSS area on the left hand side of the customizer (still in edit css mode). Hope that works for you.

I’m not having an issue with Firebug. I’m able to live edit the CSS fine. The problem is that when I copy/paste the CSS from Firebug into my style.css file, those changes don’t show up when I refresh my website (at least not for quite a while). So it’s bogging down my workflow because I’m not able to keep working in Firebug, as the changes aren’t updating.

I can give your method a try, but I really prefer to work on the style.css file within a text editor, rather than using the customizer. I’ve just never run into this issue with any other theme so I wasn’t sure if the caching problem was related to the theme or not.

I got the rows working the way I wanted. I found the “inner container” option for the content band.

I’m still not quite sure what is going on with the caching issue, though.

Yeah, when you have a workflow that works well for you, it’s not fun to change. I thought saving it using the internal tool might trigger some kind of refresh for you. I assume you’ve done the whole shift-F5 stuff and/or even closed/open the browser tab?

I got the caching issue resolved. It turns out that the new hosting company that I am using has a built-in caching featured turned on by default. I had to flush it and then disable the feature. Now the site appears to reflect changes on refresh. Sorry for the confusion.
