fderooyParticipantHi there!
I was wondering if it was possible to create a kind of “horizontal skin” with Essential Grid. Basically, I need to display, in some of the pages of my site, the media (photo, video, or so…) to left of the rest of the elements (post title, post meta, post excerpt, and so on…). Is it possible to achieve this using Essential Grid?
Take a look at author page on this site, so you can see more clearly what I’m trying to achieve. I would like to achieve the display of posts (media to the left, resto of elements to de right) using Essential Grid. Any idea of how this is done?
Thanks a lot in advance! 🙂
Cheers.

RadModeratorHi there,
Thanks for writing in.
It’s possible I think, I have seen similar setup somewhere using Essential Grid. I tried it myself but couldn’t do it 100%.
Under your essential grid settings, change your item aspect ratio to the similar rectangle. Then edit the skin assigned to your current grid and compose the layout you wish to achieve. You may want to check essential grid documentation for available options and settings. It’s too big to cover here. Then in grid setting, set columns to 1 and max rows to 20. Then add pagination.
Thanks!

fderooyParticipantHey Rad! Many thanks for taking the time to explain all of this. I’ve already tried before the aspect ratio, columns, rows and pagination to display a kind of horizontal grid. What I’ve achieved is a list of items, one per row, but only composed of text (title, tags, categories, and so on…). If I add media to the grid, it will display across the whole skin of the item, not to one side.
I think the solution could be to modify the item’s media aspect (position, ratio, and so on) within the skin editor, or the grid configs. There should be a way of telling the plugin to place the photo to the left leaving a blank space to the right. Any ideas?
Again, thanks a lot for your help!
Cheers. 🙂

LelyModeratorHello There,
I did check each available skin. What you want to achieve is not available by default. Either we have to create custom skins or Customize what is available. This needs a lot of custom CSS.
Although, you might want to check ethos:http://demo.theme.co/ethos-1/. It has the same style for blog.
Hope this helps.

fderooyParticipantThat’s OK Lely, I understand. I’ll look around for some other solution.
Thanks a lot!
