Hello,

Is there a way to hide a certain category from the Ethos homepage recent posts section (I am not using a static homepage)? I want this specific category to only appear on the sidebar on the homepage, not in the main post section.

Thanks for your response, but no, that entry is not really what I’m looking for.

I don’t want to use the filterable index feature because there’s no pagination option and it does not display multiple categories at once; it only displays one category at a time and even at that it is very clunky.

I want to a achieve a very basic task. I want to use the regular ‘Your Latest Posts’ homepage and I want to hide one specific category from appearing on the main portion of the page. And I DO want this category to appear on the sidebar.

Hi There,

Please add this under Custom > CSS in the Customizer.

.blog .post.category-slug {
	display: none;
}

Change the slug to the actual category slug(name).

I tried your css code in the custom, and it works. But actually on my website, the home page displays a blank space instead of section hidden . Is it possible to remove this white space ?

Hi there,

This is because you are using masonry layout. Try removing the provided CSS code and adding following JS code under Custom > JavaScript in the Customizer:

jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
  $('.blog .post.category-news')
    .css({'visibility': 'hidden', 'display': 'none'})
    .removeClass("hentry item masonry-brick");
});

Hello There,

Thanks for providing the login information. The code above is only limited to hiding the post with specific category. Out of the 10 posts which you have set in your Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most, the depending on the number of posts which belong to the specific category, the number of post displayed will be less than 10 after the code is applied.

If you want to truly display 10 post, please go to you customizer Appearance > Customize > Ethos > Blog Options and enable the Filterable Index. Once enabled, insert the Category IDs of the post that you want to display in your blog. Please check our knowledge base to get the category IDs: https://community.theme.co/kb/how-to-locate-category-ids/
