I tried to add the Google Site crawl code to my childs theme as per instructed in another forum question but it broke my site. I added the code as said clicked update file and now this comes up when you go to my website:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /hermes/bosnaweb27a/b2558/nf.budgetexhaust/public_html/wp-content/themes/x-child/functions.php on line 31

I went back and deleted the code I added and it still comes up.

I am now locked out of my wordpress dashboard completely

    Hi There,

You need to access your website via FTP and fix the line of code:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /hermes/bosnaweb27a/b2558/nf.budgetexhaust/public_html/wp-content/themes/x-child/functions.php on line 31

If you donΒ΄t know how to fix, download a fresh copy of x child theme and change functions.php for the fresh file.

    Hope it helps

    Joao

I’m not sure how to do this by FTP? Are you able to go in and fix it? =\

Or step by step how to get to it by mac/where to find it etc..

Thanks so much for your help thus far.

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing back. Kindly provide us the code you need to add. We’ll help you to add this correctly. Usually it should be added like this – https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/need-to-add-google-number-script-to-the-footer/#post-908572

If that doesn’t work; provide the code you need to add.

    Cheers!

This is what google gave me to add:

    <meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”Gr6ouSktUhyvTGzAxok7qctIoV_bedZlB1jG-kKo5G8″ />

I responded privately with my FTP log in information etc… I just need my website working again, if we can get the google site crawler in then great, if not I’d just like my website back πŸ™

We’ve had quite a few people asking why our website is down, so i’d prefer it to just be up ASAP without the code if thats faster. Thanks!
