hi there,
i copied text from an existing website into the new site made with x theme and cornerstone. copied it into the “text-editor” of cornerstone – not the visual editor. the text looks fine first – even after saving. but the moment i want to edit the text with cornerstone the german umlaut (üöä) turn into gibberish like this: Lu00f6sung. should be: Lösung!
the moment i save my text changes everything stays like this. why would that be?

Hi there,

This particular issue might be related to the editor you have copied. So let’s try placing them in plain editor first then put to WordPress.

hi rupok, i tried that already. i copied the text from the website into various editors and also did not use the visual editor because of this problem. any other tipps? the strange thing is that at first the text appears ok. only the moment i start editing the text the problem arises.

Hi,

I tried it on my test site but could not replicate the issue on my end.

You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

did you copy directly from the website into cornerstone or through an editor. and if which one?

Hi there,

Through cornerstone text element, and copied the exact same text from that website. It’s the same on my installation and it works fine, special characters are never converted.

Perhaps, you should reconfigure your database for proper encoding?

thanks for your reply!
but i was asking paul how he tested.
i am somewhat confused now.

i don’t know how to reconfigure the database and i never had to before. it just worked.
so i will just type the whole text in a new empty file. that always works but is the long way… 😉
