I have a new SSL certificate installed. I’m trying to test it BEFORE I force all pages. I’m afraid once I force all pages, something else might break.

That said, when I test manually by typing HTTPS, certain scripts don’t load via HTTPS, which of course breaks the page from completely loading.

Is there a way to force/test the page without doing the .htaccess updates to force HTTPS for all pages. And even with that settings, I’m still not sure the scripts would load HTTPS. It seems the .htaccess force will only force the URLs on browser to HTTPS, and I’ll still have same problem with scripts. Sorry to ramble… just trying to be clear of concern.

Side note of thanks… site works in IE now… don’t know what you fixed, but it was jacked up previously

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! Please follow this resource first (http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-ssl-and-https-in-wordpress/)

Basically you can install the plugin WP Force SSL (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-force-ssl/).

    Hope that helps.

I’m sorry, but I do not believe you read my question.

I did NOT ask how to set the site up for HTTPS.

I specifically said I was wanting to test it BEFORE forcing all pages.

Also, the general settings for site URL is disabled with X theme.

    Hello Jeff,

Sorry for the confusion. Regretfully there might not be a way to test https in your site. Most of the tools you can find is for ssl assessments only. You can check some of these tools here: https://github.com/ssllabs/research/wiki/Assessment-Tools

For your site url in the general setting, it may only be disabled if you are using a 3rd party plugin which forces https or that you have a multi site set up.

Please let us know how it goes.
