    Hello there,

Can you please help me get rid of the “index-2” in this permalink:

    http://artthescience.com/index-2/polyfield-gallery/

I don’t understand what I did wrong or how that got there, but I cannot fix it.
I have already adjusted the Permalinks under Settings to this:

    Post name: http://artthescience.com/sample-post/

But since “polyfiled-gallery” is a page I am not sure it’s even relevant.

I would like it to be:

    Polyfield Gallery

    Thank you so much!

    Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! To get rid of the index-2 in your permalink, please edit your page and remove the parent page which you have assign it. The parent page is what adds up in your permalink.

Hope this make sense. Please let us know how it goes.

    Hi,

You can create a new page and set it as front page under Settings > Reading.

    Hope that helps

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing back. It’s simply because you are setting the home page as parent so certainly it will be appear on the permalink – http://prntscr.com/cikoww

    Hope this makes sense.

    Hello There,

    This is the link: http://example.com/parent/child-page/

So even if you set the parent as the home and would display http://example.com/, when you display a child page, it will always have the link structure which will include the parent slug. I would suggest that you edit some of your pages and remove the homepage as parent page. This should resolve the issue.

I went ahead and fixed the issue for you to save time and speed up the process. Please check out your site.

Thank you so much! I think I understand this now!
I thought that when I do not select a “parent page” in the page options I lose my header etc..

Now I see that the header stays even if I do not choose a parent page.

I really appreciate your time and help!
    As always you guys ROCK!!!
