renzofernandezParticipantHi guys,
I put the faceook pixel code in the “header.php” and it works, but came across a post that said that it should go in the “functions.php”. Is there a difference in the type of data I’ll have according to which area I place the code in?Thanks.

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Thanks for writing in! Since what you are trying to accomplish requires a template customization, we would like to suggest that you use a child theme. This allows you to make code changes that won’t be overwritten when an X update is released. After your child theme is setup, please review how we recommend making template changes in Customization Best Practices.
And if you already have child theme, your customization for Facebook Pixel won’t matter if you put it in the header.php or functions.php. As long as it does the job and in the child theme then should do fine.
Hope this explains it.

renzofernandezParticipantHi Rue,
Will setting up a child theme change anything on the website I’ve already built? Thanks for your help.

JoaoModeratorHi There,
Not everything should be the same. If something happens you can activate the Parent theme back again.
I just would recommend you saving your Customizer Settings before activating it the Child Theme.
To do that go to WP-Admin Dashboard > Addons > Customizer Manager and Export your Customizer settings to your computer.
If when you activate your Child theme the styling looks different you can go to the same place and import the settings.
Hope that helps,
Joao
